Well im from Kent and the only real watersport around here is jetskiing! It''s really good fun, and a couple of years ago we got our own cheapy jetski, and everytime we turned up it looked like a skoda within ferraris, so we decided to get a Yahama Waverunner.. 800cc and its a beast!! When i was about half a kilometre out i got a choppy wave which sent me flying at about 70 km/ph!! it was immense! Yeah we go every weekend in the summer really good fun!!! Here's a pic of mine!! (well its not actually mine just the same model and colour!)

They are a tool to be used in the right situation. outside of that they are a nuisance.

Yes, I love to go into the tranquility of the ocean and f^ck it up by making a screaming racket and pumping out exhaust fumes along the line up.

No i don't know what you mean. There are good in places with large surf for tow in and rescue but my experiences of them here in my local area are that they are ridden by overweight middle aged buisness men who think they are extreme and cool by riding close to the beach jumping around and doing donuts . Sorry but locally they are nothing but a nuisance aside from the ones the life guards use.

I been thinking about buying a boat for the summer, thought about a jetski too because they are a lot cheaper, but that's for lake, not the sea, but decided against it because they are totally gay. Gonna buy a kayak instead, and enjoy the peace of the mountains, lakes and rivers, and stay fit at the same time.

x2. initial cost for a kayak can be steep. between the boat, paddle, pfd, gear, and so on, it can get a lot more expensive than you had planned. but after that, you're good to go. no need to pay for gas. i kayak a lot. because it's my job. i'll jetski from time to time, but it's at the jetski rental place and i can go out for free

I'm getting one for fishing - can get to some beautiful spots with a bit of effort, and won't spook the trout 8)

Might even pick up a rifle and use it for hunting too next winter.

Sounds like a fantastic plan in contrast to the jetski or boat. BOAT: Bust out another thousand---holds true constantly.

Kayak fishing is incredible, you can literally be right on top of a fish and they don't know what's up

Yup, my brother is hardcore into it (GPS, fishfinder, 15 rods..... ). Anyways, I've heard of guys going marlin fishing and going for "sleigh rides"

There was a guy here in NZ a couple of years ago that was fishing with a long line and ended up taking on a 6m great white.

There's a great read about it here

This is my favourite bit...

I completely lost control of my bodily functions. Bladder and bowels let go at that point, and I began vomiting.

Luckily, I'm looking to fish on a lake and rivers, so just a few big trout, but it's got to be a great way to get access to some world class fly fishing water without paying for a helicopter.
