powerslides too hard on land

Postby Beachbum » Thu Aug 28, 2008 5:41 am

It seems that I cant do a backslide or frontside powerslide on a normal skateboard  . It's different in the water but for some reason the fear of falling on my back or hitting my head prevents me from fully doing it. You just put most of your weight on your front foot and swing the tail around you, right?

Anyone know how to take off a stripped screw on skateboard as well? It's been frustrating me all night.

Harder wheels make it easier, however it can be done with any board. Breaking traction is what its about, once you've broken the initial friction, you will slide. More speed, the easier. Yeah I know it's a great feeling going 20 then trying to throw it all in one direction to slide. But it works better and you have a better chance of not eating it.

You could also make some slide gloves and mess around with those. Just get some leather work gloves (thicker the better) and melt a piece of cutting board on it. Then your hands will slide on the pavement

How do I get over the fear of falling on my back? The board seems to shoot out under me, why is that?

^ i dunno. the only way to get over that fear is to grow a pair and just commit. maybe wrap yourself in bubble wrap or pad up like mad. but you gotta commit to it. sliding gloves help a lot, being that you can support your weight on your hands sliding on the pavement and not have your hand turned into raw hamburger
