hey, i broke my board recently. it was a fish and i broke the tail off or one of the swallow tails. my dad came up with the idea on how to make it work again. he suggested we take off the other tail piece and turn it into a squash tail. however we have no supplies to do this. what do we need? i know we need the fiberglass stuff, anything else.

also what do you think, is it a good idea?

make sure you get it even, and you would need sandpaper, fiberglass and resin (duh) a hacksaw, and I think thats it, I would strip the fiberglass off the deck about 6 inches away from where you are going to cut it on both sides, then sand it smooth, make sure your tail is even, and then re-glass it. I would practice glassing something roughly the same shape first so you kinda know what your doing, and if you do screw it up its not your board. ummm anything else your wondering reply.

not before you cut it, but afterwards so you can get the rails and tail the right shape. I would draw out where your going to take it off, then sand off all the resin down to the cloth, then use an exacto knife or razor blade to cut around the outline, and peel it off the foam. Make sense?

umm i think so... let me see

ok so your saying i should draw where im going to have my tail be and its shape... then remove the fiberglass up to that point... cut off the foam... then glass the end?

no, cut it first, then remove the other glass. Its so you don't have your tail at right angles.
