Yep, but a bit hard with the cost of living here for a lot of folk. Look on the bright side though we can all sign on and let the wealthy pay, knew there was a reason for the in crowd earning all that dosh.

It presents a good money making opportunity. Suck it up and make the most of it.

Anyway, the waves will still come.

I agree. But then I panic a lot about interesting theories and things I can do nothing about so I feel my only option is to do this:

*sticks head in sand and fingers in ears, closes eyes, and makes loud 'wah wah wah, I cant hear you' noises*

:D

Thank god I started to straighten myself out financially before all this hit the fan.

I was talking to my mate yesterday who is in the finance industry and he reckons we're a long way off a proper bad recession but there is a real danger of the media making things much worse.
The financial world is largely built on speculation and if the media convince public its a bad time to buy a house now then they won't buy a house now and everyone waits and all the houses are worth less and people panic.
The media loves it and amplifies things which generates more panic and people won't invest in anything as nobody's buying anything because the papers say its a bad time to.
The truth and the bottom line is the interest rate is still going down not up.

Thats why theres even more reason for concern as people are far more connected than ever with tv, paper and the main contender the Internet. To add more fuel to the fire you have the advent of rising gas prices world tensions and weather. The thing of it is this has been around for a while but because of the interconnection with media outlets it plays more of a role. Society and economy is pretty darn fragile dont take much to upset the balance. A rumour even an untrue one is enough to destabalize everything.

Also remember the world is a much smaller place than it was years back so any destabalization is gonna effect people in a much much bigger way even if the event is less severe than previouse.

all else fails and that might not be such a bad idea.... at least we'll have plenty of time to surf... we'll all be able to go pro by the end of it.
just about remember the last recession and to be honest.. tho i was quite young at the time i don't remember either me or my parents being miserable.
things haven't been good for a long time.. they've been easy!

everyone has been working crazy hours (normal people) for actually less and less money... buying cars and houses that they can't afford in reality with the banks money..
i work with a guy who "owns" 3 houses - WTF do you want with 3 houses? :bang: greed has been the name of the game.

this recession will be the reality check we all need to remind us of what's important - people, not stuff.

there it is - rant over!

yeah...getting slower every week...my construction crews are hurting right now....quote from last week "miss one week I'll get by...miss two and I'll be homeless"....I feel bad but what can I do if no one is buying the jobs. This is when good aditudes and hard work are gonna keep your job, if there is one.

Gonna try to ride this like I have in the past......told my wife I have a couple grand stashed for gas and food, if we have to move into the motorhome  Might hear some complaint from the kids...or not, we would be parked by the surf

reckon i'm good for a couple of months anyway... might be a bit less if a few risks i'm plannin on takin don't pan out...
wouldn't be takin em if i didn't think they'd a good chance of churning up some cash though...
if it works out i'll be kicking myself that i didn't do it sooner.
you in the construction business parry? where ya based?
