Reggae music

Postby Beachbum » Fri Jul 04, 2008 9:27 am

Anyone know a good site to find latest music on a lot of reggae bands?
My friend hooked me up with some good stuff and I am trying to get more on my own. If you know any other artists post a link to a song of theirs since I am open to anything.

First of all, welcome back to me, cause I haven't been on here for a while. I listen to a bit of reggae, especially on the way back from the beach... on the way to the beach, it's all about some heavy stuff to get me pumped.... anyway, here's some of the reggae I listen to:

Bob Marley (obv)
Junior Gong (Bob's son)
Burning Spear
Carlton Livingston
John Holt
Steel Pulse
Aston Barrett

anyway, that's a few of my favourite ones. If you go on myspace music section, you should be able to listen to samples of most artists these days I think. I have no access to myspace though, so I can't check.

Reggae is great, so keep looking!

^ DUDE!!! eek a mouse is awesome. he just played a show on the outer banks which, 2 of my friends went to, without telling me, thus i missed the show. BUT, check this:

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C.

The reggae singer known as Eek-A-Mouse was charged Sunday with rape and kidnapping after a 23-year-old woman reported she was held against her will at an Outer Banks motel, police say.

The musician, whose real name is Ripton Joseph Hylton, had performed at the Port O’ Call Restaurant & Gaslight Saloon on Saturday before leaving some time after the show ended Sunday about 1:30 a.m., said Kill Devil Hills police Lt. Gene Johnson.?

According to Johnson, Hylton, 50, from Los Angeles , then went to the Colony IV Motel in Kill Devil Hills, where the woman said the rape took place.

Hylton was charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree rape and possession of cocaine, all felonies, Johnson said. He also was charged with possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

He was released on $52,000 secured bond , Johnson said.

Before his gigs in Kill Devil Hills on Friday and Saturday, “Mouse” had appeared at the Jewish Mother on Aug. 14 in Virginia Beach.

tuff gong studios

Postby philhank08 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 9:51 pm

well what a subject to strat with on this forum!!

i have every single bob marley cd that he ever produced under his tuff gong label

there are some fantastic hidden gems that are not main stream but are far better than the usual suspects of no woman no cry etc

i strongly recommend checking out the official tuff gong site for raw talent straight from jamaica, some artists include the marley family but there are other great artists there waiting to break into the main stream

check them out here http://www.tuffgong.com/releases.html

let me know your thoughts
