Big interview

Got an interview Thursday arvo for a big multinational company running a departement, bricking myself. Ok with most of the job description but not too up to date on lean manufacturing, any pointers?

Ideal scenario is to get offered the job but to stay where i am and for them to match any pay increase, cos i'm worth it.

Wikipedia tells me:

Lean manufacturing or lean production, which is often known simply as "Lean", is the optimal way of producing goods through the removal of waste and implementing flow, as oppose to batch and queue. Lean manufacturing is a generic process management philosophy derived mostly from the Toyota Production System (TPS).[1] It is renowned for its focus on reduction of the original Toyota seven wastes in order to improve overall customer value, but there are varying perspectives on how this is best achieved. The steady growth of Toyota, from a small company to the world's largest automaker,[2] has focused attention upon how it has achieved this

I still don't know what Lean Manufacturing is!

Sorry mate, good luck anyway!

HA HA, i know what it is its just that i'm not that up to date with modern practice, lol. Also can be known as "just in time" manufacturing.

Strangely enough just costed a job for Toyota this afternoon.

What the fook am i doing back in engineering? Two more nights reading i guess.

Read up on "Operational Excellence" - it is a goal of conducting business in a manner that improves quality, obtains higher yields, faster throughput, and less waste... Would play right into lean manufacturing I think.

Thanks everyone for the support.

Bloody waste of time. Money was good but it transpired it was managing a two shift operation which i can't do due to child care issues.

Good practice tho i suppose.
