I got an email from my mother this arvo - in Shoreham - a chunk of tree landed on her car, and she's thinking the garden is about to be swallowed by the English Channel.
Sucks. I got sunburnt surfing on Saturday, and it was so hot yesterday, I had to crack open a few beers whilst mowing the lawn.
Should be some good waves on the South Coast though. Big tides and SW storms, Shoreham Harbour will be OK, and if it gets a bit of NW in it, then there's a few spots further up the coast that could be pretty good.

Big lumps of brick fell off the chimney last night. Scared the pants off me.
And our porch started leaking rain.
Chances of the insurers paying out...

Here's a photo I took in 2003 of the west harbour wall at Shoreham - the wall is easily 30 foot high...

A huge chunk of our sea defences got obliterated by 18 metre waves last night, and most of the coastal roads (and fair few town streets) have been closed due to flooding.
Dozy coppers were telling everyone to batten down the hatches and stay indoors... me thinks half the island did the complete opposite, we went out in the car last night and there were thousands of people watching it all happen.
