Surfing Waves

does the OZ rent go week by week? or month to month?

after going on craigslist and looking for places in sydney i see flats and houses that are 1200 for something rather nice.. now does that mean 1200/week? or every month? I am assuming its a weekly thing there based on cost and how nice the places are.

Sadly, thats per week.

I got all excited when I first saw that too. I thought I'd be living in a gorgeous house for almost flesh all money

...But I have got a nice apartment overlooking the sea

I was looking at some places thinking holy crap I am gonna be a king.. then you broke my spirit haha. ahhh that wonderful thing called reality.

where do you live in Australia? My fiance and I are looking into moving there in a few years but don't know where yet..

I like the second picture more, has waves, haha.

^^second pick aren't really waves.. just little swells breaking over rocks.

Oz, or at least 'my' bit (Coogee, South Sydney), looks more like the second picture than the first one... except that there are huge swells breaking on the rocks

to be honest, I just want warm water and good waves. I am so sick of my 40-50 degree (Fahrenheit) water.

Water here is around the 70-80F mark

Boardshorts and a rashie (for sun protection), sometimes a 2mm shortie if the breeze is blowing

Every time I walk into the water, the first wave that hits me makes me laugh as my body instinctively tenses expecting a freezing splash... and then gets a warm waft instead

haha i know that feeling.. you walk out trying to keep your upper body out of the water long as possible until finally you just have to dunk yourself to get used to it.

but i am that guy who can't just jump into a cold pool, i have to slowly walk in haha.

damn i cannot wait for warm water :-/

is anyone on here from or have been to Broome? what do you think? looks rather dry, yet beautiful on the beach.

As in Northern WA? Never been there, but isnt that the bluebottle - saltwater crocodile bit of the world? ie no surfing? Unpleasant things in the water?

Also, when somewhere is described as quiet (or dry, come to that) in Australia... they really REALLY mean it

You'll find the bluebottles all over the East Coast. They usually hit Sydney pretty bad in the Spring/summer but thank God they haven't shown up in their usual plague proportions this year ( summer 07/08 )and they are practically harmless compared to the Irukandji and the Box Jellyfish.

oh and yeah as DBBB said the crocs too....
Don't think there is much surf in Broome though, you want good surf in W.A? Then head for Margaret River, that's a place I wouldn't mind living in.

WA is packed full of sharks! It's uncrowded (compared to the Goldie and most th east coast), but still get's busy.

what kind of sharks are in WA?

I am used to the abundance of great whites where I am.. but they don't attack like tigers, bulls, and other kinds of sharks..


and you better bet if I was a shark i would be in WA haha.
