I haven't seen all of the movies mentioned here, but some that I've liked are:

Bra Boys
Morning of the Earth
Sprout
Both of the Endless Summers
Big Wednesday
Ulu 32 - 32 years surfing Indonesia
Singlefin Yellow (movie where a film crew follows one board shipped to different surfers around the world)
Bombora
The Seedling
Shades of Indonesia
Rip Curl's Stories from the Search - Indonesia
Water Man

.....and the movie that I saw that first made me think about wanting to surf - Chasing Mavericks

Haven't seen many surf movies, except for "Chasing Mavericks" and "North Shore", which I guess most people here have seen.

A documentary I liked is "Stoked and Broke". About 2 guys making a surf trip with no money, and it shows surfing in a different perspective, kind opposed to that "name-brand-here" paradise surfing uthopia. Showing free surfers that gave up a few commodities of modern days for keeping their lifestyle, one of the protagonists surfing on styrofoam or old boards, instead of pros having 10 equal boards with tons of sponsors stickers. Don't take me wrong, nothing against the pros, and I'm not trying to do any anti capitalism speech here, it's just a little repetitive how media portray surfing. I liked "Stoked and broke" point of view, and it fits a little in my reality (don't imagine myself as the next rip curl boy, but I can see myself free surfing in the future)

I swear I'm not trying to sell the movie!

I just saw Blue Horizons with Andy Irons and Dave Rastovich. That is a pretty decent movie. I think it was big H that put me on to that one , Thanks man :)

Not quite a surf movie but a great story about the life of Eddie Aikau "HAWAIIAN" has some great surfing footage but even better is the description of his family much like the kind of people I grew up with

I've watched Endless Summer a few days back, really cool!

Is Cape St. Francis as perfect as they say in the movie?
It seems like south africa is going to get a pretty big swell in the next few days (up to 14ft!)

The old Cape St. Francis has gone, if you watch Endless Summer II. The fore dune have been stabilised and house built on them , the wind blown flow of sand falling on the cobbled bottom no longer happens and the break now sections. previously that didn't happen as the wind, sand and rocks were a self grooming mechanism.

The population push in coastal areas and dune stabilisation has doomed many previous surfing classics.

Many up the east coast of Australia. In America the Army Corps of Engineers and recreational boat harbours have been closing spot right back to the days of Killer Dana. Mexico a chain of boat hotels burying spots.
New Zealand too has lost spots and has some ongoing fights.,

I just watched Bali High which was great if you want to see a bunch of old style tube riding. There are parts that were filmed on Kauai. I have met and knew a few of those surfers. It has Brad Blanchard , Alana's uncle who I never met or don't recall meeting

I just watched View from a Blue Moon by John Florence and I have to say this is my new favorite surf movie. I have several thoughts after watching this. One is John Florence wants to be called John Florence so have some respect for the guy and call him John Florence. Two is John has spent so much time surfing. I start calculating and realize he has probably spent more time surfing in 2 or 3 years than I have in my entire life. Also I quit surfing for a while and since I restarted I have been surfing for close to 300 hours and in my imagination he has spent that amount of time in the tube or in the air doing aerials.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I think this movie might hold an interest to nonsurfers because it is so artistically done. The viewpoint of the surfing shots changes so they switch from water view to air to land. Then there are spectacular scenery shots mixed in with some local culture although probably not enough bikini rear end shots to satisfy IB_S....

Zen and Zero
Saw this recently....stayed with me; was a good one.

Published on Mar 22, 2013
Lured by the half-baked idea that they can sell their cars for twice the value at the end of the journey, a group of surf-loving Austrian friends drive from LA to Costa Rica to test the legendary waves of Pavones. Along the way, they discuss their personal philosphies about life, the surf road-trip memoir In Search of Captain Zero, and the prospect of meeting Allan Weisbecker, the man who wrote it.

This is an EPIC surf movie and it really took me a long time to find a copy. I hope everybody enjoys it and that this story may be shared with a lot more adventure seeking people!!!
