hey everyone! it seems like most of the people on here are from the UK, which is pretty cool, cause i didn't really know that people surfed there until i came here! well, i'm from the US, and live in Michigan, close to lake huron. i've only surfed in Hawaii, cause my parents won't but me a wetsuit, and they cost too much. but hopefully i'll get out surfing this summer!! (even though the waves won't be as good) but hopefully i'll go to beaches for spring break from now on and will be able to surf! well, see ya'll later!

Hey Spiderfan,

Don't be too disheartened, you do get some decent waves over here. Not quite SA I have to say. I moved away too, when I was 16 and have been here eversince. It'll take some getting used to, the main change will probably be the water temperature but hey, that's nothing to worry about. :)

Definitely make the most of the waves you've got now and you'll be sound.

Florida

Postby smalls » Sun Jun 06, 2004 4:33 pm

I now live in Florida on the wrong coast to surf I have to drive accross the panhandle if I even want to see a wave it is sad. I use to live in Hawaii for six years so yeah I am totally not liking this place. If there is anyone else in my shoes or on my coast drop me a shout. Nice to meet everyone here. Take care

im from leicester in the uk. its a 6 hour drive each way to get to surf saunton (my favourite) but i like woollacoombe too, ive also surfed bude and some oher beaches near there, but never croyde it scares me. i surfed east coast once and got so pounded im not going back, even though theyre the nearsest waves to me. and last year i surfed 1 wave in a week of trying in north france (normandy i think). its nice to hear from so many uk surfers, and people from all over the world.

lol, too bad there AREN'T any waves in toronto!!!!!!!!! it's horrible, all there is is Lake Ontario, which I live SO close to. If only it were an ocean...... so, you're probably wondering where I have surfed. I've been to Hawaii. It was amazing. And i want to go to many other places to surf as well in the future. So basically, I am a swimmer because around here, there's absolutely nowhere to surf!!!!!!!! But I love swimming too.

hey u should go wakeboarding!!! if you have a big lake, why not get some hours in behind a wakeboard boat? is it too cold in the winter to go in the lake? I know some parts of canada can be freezing! maybe only for the summer ay?!?

yeah, i really should go wakeboarding eh. in the winter, yeah, it definitely IS way too freezing to do anything water-related outside. but the actual tempererature varies each winter. it's a weird weird country!!! this past winter was absolutely freezing, and that's wearing a winter jacket and all........ nevermind being out on the lake!!!!!!!!! by the way, thanks for the tip barrelled2perfection.

he he, no worries!! the only problem with wakeboarding is that is costs a hell of a lot of money, especially behind a boat, but if you chat up a crew, I'm sure they maybe able to give you a bit of a cheeky discount!:)
