I thought with all this snow I should get something that'll handle well off-piste!

It only weighs 2 kilos!!

Just got to wax it before the football starts.

Those K2 Eldorados are nice boards.

Think the cheap season passes went out the window today, because I got extra drunk in the pub this afternoon and told the CEO of the local skifield that he's a short arsed penis :D He took it on board anyway

How many days do you guys get out of a board before changing it? I kind of do one a season, though the old one gets relegated to being a rock hopper for the next year.

I only get to use my snowboard for 2 weeks in a year so it should last me quite a few seasons.

I tend to get pissed off with paying the local guy to fix mine, so get half way through the season and end up gluing edges back in, p=texing it with a lighter and doing a base grind with an electric sander. Still goes fine but doesn't look pretty. Depends on the base depth really, last year it was massive, so not too many rocks, and my powder board is still pretty good.

Picked up a Bataleon Evil Twin in the sales, so will use that most of the time this year. I've never ridden a twin before, so should be fun - the mountains where I'm living now are much more suited to jibbing instead of big hard out powder runs.

Like Kitesurfer I kinda go by weeks and not seasons. My last board I used for over 8 weeks, but I hit a rock in the second week and dented the rail, everytime I went to get it waxed the french guys would pass it back and say "it's broken", I'd pass it back and say "I don't care" as I couldn't afort a new one.

In Scotland the granite rocks cut through your base like butter so I go through a lot of p-tex.

That Palmer board cost 650 euros last year. Lets just say I've got it a wee bit cheaper!

We have trees, but no snow in them, and the patrollers flip if you go in them. I guess since the majority of skiers and riders around here really don't know what they are doing and don't stick to easy slopes, they don't let anyone ski off trail. I would ride trees all day every day if I could.

We are having rain now, for the next week. Better get cold right after or we are in some long term trouble for the season.

Just got back from sauze d'oulx in italy where we had an absolutely awful holiday.

Image

It didn't dump on our first day there

Image

and then leave us with blue skies for the rest of the holiday

Image

the slopes were horibbly busy as well

Image

there weren't any narrow tricky snow filled runs through the trees to do either

Image

that also ran through small farmyard villages

Image

and i most certainly didn't get the opportunity to ride off piste in un touched powder everyday

Image

Image

As i said it wasn't much of a holiday!

im getting bored over here. i dont even ride on my days off anymore. i still enjoy riding new resorts and on powder days. trees are too difficult when theyre packed i go too fast and wind up in tree wells. i dont enjoy bombing hills anymore either. never tried the terrain park, but the reason i started surfing was because i never liked doing tricks on a skateboard.

kitesurfer - get in those trees!

Sounds like you reached the point I did in snowboarding and went to skiing, haha. In my personal opinion, you can never perfect your skiing--you can always get better.

But with the trees just find little spots you can bash. Like even when they are tracked out there is little moguls and stuff you can just slash on and scrub speed.

How is your carving technique doing? Got all the speed checks out and pure carves instead of scrapes? Try racing? Backcountry stuff?
