Ya, I love the Ridgeline. Not much on for the looks, kinda ugly, but it has been the best out of 9 different trucks that I have had. Pulls my trailer great, roomy inside, really comfy, great gas mileage, and the trunk in the bed is awesome, can fill it with ice and beer, wicked. Not real cheap, but then nothing is. I would heartily endorse this truck for anyone who doesn't care if they ride in an ugly truck, like me!

Sweet sounding bikes. All my friends are into mountain and road biking. They all spend obscene amounts of money on their toys. Sounds like fun.

Ya, I am buying one at the end of May when I arrive in CR. But it won't be anything big, roads are way too horrific to have a cruiser or sport bike, so I am buying a Honda 250 Toronado dual purpose. Will be fun but it won't be the same. So, goodbye to the V-Star and the RC-51 and hello to the dirtpig.

nice mate heres my cove i bulit up last year

those rocky mountian bikes are lush, i wouldnt mind getting a full sus, my coves nice for ragging about but on some of the long down hill rides i do would be nice to have some thing with a bit more give on the back

Ya, i love the FS. I do 8 hour races solo. I found that after about 5 hours my back was just on fire, and there is still 3 hours left. I love my FS. I will have to get a picture of it this weekend when I go to my parents(where i keep it).

btw, are those Panaracer tires? I have like 4 different sets from them.

Nice bikes all round! I ride an orange gringo, but the only original bit left is the frame, running a set of Marzocchi forks, air sprung and oil damped, very smooth. Hope disc brakes, fat tyres and other more freeride style parts. I think it's time to replace the frame though as it's a bit tired and a bit too cross-country for my kind of riding. I was looking at one of the cove hardtail frames, but need to save a bit first. Sad thing is though, the nice new cnc'd stem i bought last year (newest part on the bike other than the chain and the tyres which get replaced regularly) has snapped!! My bike is off the road until i can find a replacement stem i actually like!!

Here 'tis. Just found an old stem that i never really liked and put that on. It'll do for now but has to go asap as it's just too long!! Needs a bit of cleaning, and as you can see, we have building work going on at the moment. I took the afternoon off work and now i wish i was still there for a bit of peace and quiet!!

I have the same stem I think. Just one of those parts I never think to upgrade. I got new pedals about a month ago. I got Crank Brothers Eggbeats SL. They are crazy good. I did my first race April 1, by the end there was almost a foot of mud in some places, never had an issue with clippin back into them...

Though i want new brakes, and a new wheelset. I was also looking at upgrading the drivetrain to sram x-9(i have x-7 now).

Eggbeaters look very nice. When my shimano pedals finally die i think thats what i'll get. As for the drivetrain, i always get a decent chain, i have some nice raceface cranks and a nice cassette (sram not shimano!) but otherwise i stick with deore. It's cheap and reliable and if anything is going to get bent on a bike, its going to be the derailleur so i'd rather stick to cheap and cheerful there! Bust a few in my time from knocks and spills so i don't want to waste my money on the good parts!

I hear ya. My one real expensive part is a pair of Bontrager xXx riser bars. I think they normaly retail for about $300. I paid like $100, cus the owner of a bike shop in Bermuda didnt know the price, so he just told me what he thought they were worth....hahaha, I wasnt going to change his mind.

Damn good price!! Bontrager kit is nice, though i do think sometimes it feels a little delicate. I love the risers on my bike, i forgot earlier that they are also original. If they ever look like breaking/break, i really hope orange will be able to supply a replacement as they are perfect! Just out of interest, how did this thread turn from a thread about a motorbike to a bike thread?!!?!? Nevermind, i'm not complaining! Do any of you US/Aus or anywhere else people see Orange mountain bikes or are they just a UK make? Personally i think they are the best. When i can, i will be getting myself a patriot. They are lovely bikes to ride, ideal for freeride and perfectly capable of climbing as well as descending. One day........

Threads go off topic wicked easy. I was a little sketchy going to a carbon bar, especially a wide one, cus I clip trees with it alot. Though I have to say that Bontrager seems to make some solid kit(from the one peice i own of theirs). I have never heard of Orange Mountian bikes. Though there are SO MANY bike manufacturers out there, there are only a few(relitive) that are knowen worldwide.

I have never really done too much freeride stuff. I have always been into enduro/XC stuff. I race 8/9 hour races, aswell as two local series that have weekley races, they are normaly between 30 minutes - an hour of all out riding.

Here are some pics of my bikes.

My Cervelo P3....its my baby. Dura Ace 10 speed. I have Zipp 404s for it with a Powertap SL.

Trek 2000. With same Zipp wheels mentioned above. The bike was free, so i ride it.

My Norco before i stripped it to build up my Rocky. It is just a frame, though i am thinking about building it into a fixie(fixed speed), for commuting to work.

Of course here is the bike i test rode last november...and fell in love with...just the frame for this goes for $4000.

I race on Panaracer FireXC, and Panaracer FireXC Mud(when needed). I am super happy with both. I will keep using them until i get serious enough and run tubeless.

Well what are you looking at doing with it? What kind of riding that is. What are you looking at spending? You can easily go over $10 000. Or as low as under $1000. Like a set up like the trek I have will go for a few hundred. It is a pretty solid starter bike. Well hell I still ride it, and it works for me. You deffinatly wont have those kind of wheels on it. Just a box rim wheel. If you are looking at bikes, the order of good in things like drive trains go;

Shimano(best to worst, top to bottom)
ROAD
Dura-Ace
Ultegra
105
Sora

I only know shimano, there is also Campy, and Sram.

First of all, yes, living where you do you need to be into biking!! Second how much do you want to spend? And if you're spending less than gbp/500 don't touch full suspension!! A bike should be an investment. Look for a good solid frame that suits your build and riding style. The components aren't that important as you will probably replace them within a year. Good frame, forks and wheels (preferably disc ready) is a must, other than that, don't be too concerned but remember, if they are not adequate for our riding you will have to replace them and that adds to the cost!! I intentionally bought a nice frame with rubbish components as a rolling project (cheap, and i'm mechanically minded!). I broke bits and replaced them with better ones. Now i have a sweet bike! The only thing is, it's now time to replace the frame, but thats OK because all of my parts will switch across beautifully!
