Not really,

if people get the wrong medical treatment then they should complain. I'm not talking about complaining about rudeness etc etc but ignoring someones symptoms is a serious issue. Are you honestly saying that if you were having breathing difficulties (and as a result were very scared) and paramedics came along and pretty much accused you of lieing, your initial reaction would be "oh well fair enough i cant breathe and for all i know could be dieing but they are having a shitty day so lets just smile and say thankyou"????!!!!!!

No not whilst you are recieving treatment of course you have to state your point, the Paramedics were doing their job asking all the questions they did. Its the readyness that people want to write and complain afterwards that grates with me.

I had an anaphy....etc shock when I got stung by a bee!?! I decided to drive myself to hospital (not a good idea) and I pulled over when I was short of breath and then someone else pulled over and called an ambulance! Was a bit of a scare!
But now I carry an Epi-Pen around!

Thaya, do you know what brought your's on?

I've just been to see my doctor and he's given me some different drugs. He actually told me to ring an ambulance immediately if I start to feel unwell and went on about just how serious this sort of thing was.

The thing is, I'm not one for willingly calling an ambulance out cuz I always think someone else might need them more than me (even when I injured my shoulder that time and was in loads of pain and semi-conscious I didn't want one!).

Now I've had this bad experience, I wouldn't ever knowingly let anyone call one ever again. I know they were probably having a bad day and it probably doesn't happen a lot but if you'd been there and heard how they spoke to me and what they said, you would have understood why I was upset about it.

Anyhow, it's all done and dusted. I've already explained that I wasn't having a go at the NHS. Considering the state of my health lately, I'd be lost without them! I'd probably sit here and moan about anyone who was rude to me for no reason, regardless of who they were or who they worked for!!!

We pay round about $300 USD a month for healthcare and another $50 USD for dental that only pays half of the charges for services. Our medication is separate and can range upwards of $50 per prescription. And, we feel fortunate to have such low costs because so many other people pay so much more! Lordy, it's out of control here. Free healthcare seems like a dream to me though I realize it isn't a perfect even when it is free. But still, man o man to have that would be a dream!

Thaya, please still complain or nothing will change. These two morons from the Ambualance service need to be pulled up on this incident. Doesn't matter how tired they are or how many timewasters they get, they are still expected to do the job they're paid to do.
NHS staff are not charity workers, they still get paid to do the job regardless of where the funding comes from. Admittedly our fkn insult of anual pay rise offer this year means we get a pay cut effectively but that is another matter :x !

There is a new trend starting here that is even more frightening to me. You (rich folk) pay $3500-$5000 a year per person for ACCESS to a doctor who sees only a very low set number of patients a year. AND, then, you pay for all your services with cash. They don't even TAKE insurance. But, no waiting like a chump at the doctor's office with every other sick person in town and they call you all the time to just see how you are, blah, blah, blah. It is being called "boutique healthcare". It should be called "You lucky bast'rd" healthcare because I don't see how anyone could afford it without being just butt wealthy. Incredibly attractive to doctors too as they don't have to deal with the huge paperwork of insurance and can focus on a small clientele but if it catches on, people without means are going to be in for it (add me to that list).

I do get what you and Sar are saying and you do have a point. I mean, as a teacher, if I was rude to a kid or accused them of something they hadn't done their parents would be in and I would most certainly get disciplined for it, and depending how serious it was, I may even lose my job and never be allowed to teach anywhere ever again.

The thing is, I do also sympathise in a way because I've had bad days when I'm probably a bit moody... although I would never treat anyone like they treated me. I know Sar said to write a letter while I was still angry but to be honest I was so washed out I just had a good moan about it and then went to bed. On the one hand I do think they were totally unprofessional, but on the other I don't think I've got the time or energy to actually write a letter and deal with any hassle. The way I'm feeling right now I just want to forget about it. I went back into work this afternoon and was assaulted by a pupil in a totally unprovoked attack  Maybe it's karma coming back to get me after my good ol' moan about those guys last night :D . I've now got other things on my mind...

Everyone is entitles to having a bad day.....you have a bad day and mess up, a little kid gets their feelings hurt.....A paramedic messes up....someone dies....There are jobs where there is little to no margine of error.....If you dont know that going into a job like that, then you are an idiot. I am in the infantry, i mess up overseas, my friends or a civillian, or even I die. I mess up at the unit I currently work for(repair their computers) someone goes an extra day or two without a computer.

My point is that yes they do need to ask those kind of questions, but someone short of breath like you explained, could be so many bad bad things, that they need to take it seriously. Sometimes you living or dieing is a matter of minutes.
