When was I was in uni the electric company didn't know we were living in the flat and we never got bills (3 years), until the starage heater broke and we called the landlord and he eventually had to call someone in from the electric company to fix 'their' storage heater and all sorts of mess hit the fan. We were given an electric bill for around 3 grand which went back about 7 years!!!! We were so gutted bang went my Australia travel money!

i work for the electricity company and hear stuff like this all the time.
did u check the readings? might be an estimate or an error by the meter reader.
do you buy your electric from british gas? then it would make sense, theyre a rip off.
