Yeah weird huh!

I remember at AJ's we used to get these "grouper burgers", [i think thats how you spell it] , its a fish anyway, and we used to watch people power-boating on the waterfront on sat afternoons!

My dad is now working at Pax River air force base in Maryland. I know america is HUGE, but vito, you ever surfed anywhere like Ocean City? That's reasonably close to my dad, and might be worth a visit...

No, never surf there but it's funny because I lived and grew up on Long Island New York and never surfed while I lived there, it was only after I moved to Dallas that I started to learn to surf. Still brand new at it.

I know we don't fly into maryland but I might just have to take a vacation and see what Ocean city is like.

I'm a few posts late but I spent some time at Eglin a couple years ago. Loved the area.

Yeah niceville was pretty nice,...

Shell mate, the text under your name "sponger - wobbler" etc etc is a reflection on how many posts you have made on this forum! It'll change the sadder you get [the more you post]....

Don't worry about it :)

Shell, Vero Beach is where I went to flight school. I went to FLight Safety Academy. I wasn't a fan of Vero, maybe because I was too busy flying to get to know the place. Small world isn't it.

Where did you surf on Long Island, was it Lido Beach by any chance?

Hmm, Long Island

Postby Shell » Wed Mar 10, 2004 4:19 pm

We covered the area from Jones Beach all the way east to Montauk Point...surfed at ditch plains, smith point (Fire Island) and robert moses field 5. I guess Lido Beach is further west? I don't think we made it there.

Yup, all great places. I have only been on Fire Island once because you have to be careful where you go on the island..... Lido beach is right by Robert Moses. RM is a great spot. I never surfed on LI but boogey boarded a lot out there. We used to wait in august when hurricane season came and got totally betten and punished by the surf 8) good times.

I live in Philadelphia and Oahu. :)

I'm going to learn to surf when I get back from Iraq. I leave next month and I'll be gone for about a year. I'm taking a labtop with me so hopefully I can still post on the forum.

What does Charlie don't Surf mean - someone said it the other day in a completely non- surf related context.

What does it mean?

What does Charlie don't Surf mean

It's a reference to a line from Apocalypse Now spoken by Robert Duvall, the gung ho helecopter squad leader.
