Actually, they aren't colliding any particles for a few months. Today is just a test of the electrical systems running at 0.14 TeraElectronVolts.

Next year they plan to actually collide a few particles at the full capacity using 14TeV... It's then you want to start worrying!

Me too! Biggest scientific effort since the manhattan projext I think, must feel like xmas for physicists involved.

Though it'd have been cheap erto get 2 7 year olds to smash the particles togeter wouldnt it...
