Essex

Yer back. How did the song practice go? What track have you opted for?

So, your combing are you. Make sure you have a couple of jars in the Jubilee and say hello to Wayne for us.

Not long till Combe. Not long at all for Essex

Welcome back, Essex.

Not long till combe for you. Make sure you put Brown on the juke box in the Jube, and dance like a buffoon.

Top work, Libby. Well structured. Don't forget to add that Rob is an idiot as well.

Not long till your next post.

Bude, glorious Bude. There's nothing quite like it.

Taube.

Not long till Fazz says "Jurg".

Sorry for the confusion, Papa. Woolacombe has always been combe for us (at least since we start pestering Rob to remind him how long it was). I guess for us if it was almost time to go to Combe Martin, we'd say "Not long till Martin". What do you think?

Not long till combe.

Actually, how confusing would it be if you were trying to tell someone called Martin how long it was until 'combe. You'd end up saying "Not long till combe, Martin". That would be freaky. We'd know how long it was, but wouldn't know until where or what? Could someone please clear this up?

It could be worse than that though Spike....

Imagine if you were PapaWoolacombe talking to a friend called Martin:

"Not long till Martin, Martin"

Martin? Combe?

Postby SpikeHatchett » Tue Nov 21, 2006 6:01 pm

Crikey, DelbsGaffer. That would be too much. What if Papa's friend Martin was to say in return "Not long till combe, combe?" Actually, that's less confusing but still sounds a bit odd.

Fazz, are you still here? What do you say?

That's the beauty of "Jurg". It's versatile.

I'm sure either Spike or Fazz will explain in some detail.

Jurg - a great word

Postby SpikeHatchett » Tue Nov 21, 2006 6:28 pm

Jehtrodog, the DelbsGaffer is right. You can use Jurg in many different ways. For example as a question, an expletive, a mark of surprise, a greeting etc.

A typical conversation could go:

Gaffer: Jurg?
Spike: Jurg.
Gaffer: Jurg???!!!
Spike: Jurg.

Do you get it? It could even be extended to use as an adjective such "Where's my jurg(ing) beer?"

You can use taube (pronounced Tow-buh) in very much the same way. Try it on your friends.

Welcome back, Essex. I've been chatting to some dudes on magicseaweed.com, but they're not as friendly there. And no-one knows how long it is till combe.
