I heard that on the market, theres some sort of cream stuff (like vaseline) that u smear on your exposed skin and the jellyfish stings can't penetrate, therefore not being able to sting you. I dunno what its called and i dunno how good it is either! sorry!

first off, if you don't know how to surf, huge waves=baddd

second, try renting before you invest all that money into a surfboard... and learn something about surfing before you just go and buy a board that you'll regret buying if you end up getting into the sport.

my favourite way of dealing with them is 2 mins either side under a hot grill with a dash of tabasco and a sprinking of salt and pepper.

tastes like chicken.

lol

Wear a wettie like namino suggests. I have never had a bad sting while surfing in England but if you are worried then take some vinegar along with you. If you get stung paddle back in and cover the sting with the vinegar.

My girlfriend works in the A&E dept of a Perth (australia) hospital and al couple of months back she looked after this surfer who had been surfing up north in Broome and had been stung by an irukandji jellyfish. This jellyfish had been swept down from futher north by a cyclone swell. Anyway, 15 mins after the sting he started feeling funny and paddled back in. Within 30 mins he could not stand up and was being driven to the local hospital. His blood pressure went sky high and he was in absolute agony. The local hospital ran out of morphene for his pain so he was choppered down to Perth. After a couple of days in agony and with dangerously high blood pressure he finally started feeling better. They kept him in and then two days later it all happened again.

Howdy,

We had a weird experience in Kenya with hundreds and hundreds of little tiny weeny jelly fish. they were smaller than a finger nail and with quite a sting for something so tiny. Was very bizarre.

I take it you've never visited Ireland! :D

Roasting hot for Ireland means you can take your wooly hat off without the top of your head getting frostbite. It gets that warm at least twice a year.

Water temp-wise, it would be a far braver man than me to venture in without a wettie!

no i havent been to ireland, and i know its really cold there. i didnt know thats where he was from, and when he says its roasting hot u just kind of assume that he doesnt mean freezing ass cold. ya then if its that cold u definitly need a wettie.
