Scuba and Surf

Postby markmarlin » Sat Jul 28, 2007 7:06 pm

I'm curious if there are any people out there who both surf and scuba. Obviously they're too very different activities, although both involving water, hopefully.

I ask because the last time I was scubaing in Florida I took a one-day course (I'm new to that too) and the instructor was somewhat condescending towards surfers when I brought it up. I wondered if it was a widespread feud or a personal vendetta (I'm guessing the latter).

I do both. In fact I used to be a PADI Dive instructor. Never really heard much negative talk towards surfers.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, sounds like the instructor was just expressing a personal opinion...

I am a Divemaster with PADI(cant dive right now due to some medical xxxxx), but i have never seen anything between surfers and divers. Infact, the first time I heard about surfing the great lakes was from a family i used to dive with.
