Wasting ''Police'' time

Postby .Jen. » Thu Feb 08, 2007 2:05 am

Hows this for wasting police time...

fleshin' idiots obviously dont have anything better to do with their time... ''you havent done anything wrong, but the reason weve stopped you is that you took a strange route through town and at this time of night we always stop people to make sure that the car is being driven by the owner as we get alot of thefts...''.

My fecking arse!!! I work atleast three night shifts a week, I ALWAYS go out for a drive with Wayne for atleast 2 hours afterwards to wind down, and in the past four months ive been stopped twice - the first time was legit - one of my back lights was out. Tonight was horseshit though. Town is all one way now, so where the 'strange route' theory came from I dont know. Bear in mind that its been pissing it down with rain since 9pm, I had to open my window and therefore got soaked.

Gonna see if I can find a map of town to show my ''strange route'' and to show how stupid the bloody coppers are.

On the plus side... the uniforms are still hot

That's what the feds do. And they're pretty good at it. Why get wound up about being pulled over?

I'm against cameras (they're for making money, nothing to do with safety) and tracking (civil liberties), but the police pulling people over that seem a bit 'iffy' are good at what they do - the guy taking the odd route home (he's drunk), the guy doing exactly 30mph (he's uninsured), the car with no tax (no insurance, no MOT, death-trap).

With more policecars on the road, and less cameras, there'd be less people on their phones, on the pis$, doing 200mph etc etc.

Just appreciate that you get to see a nice uniform

Personally I love getting pulled over when I know Im legal - opportunity to take the pis$ big time

My ex and I got pulled over late one night driving home to Shropshire from Cheltenham, having gone on a mission to pick up a rather large quantity of 'erb....we'd been smokin' a bit already and I was skinning up on my lap at the time with the interior light on, as soon as we saw them I stuffed it in my shoe and switched the light off.

We pulled over and both sat waiting for them to come to the drivers window...after about 3 mins of waiting there was a tap on my window, and I turned round to see the copper peering in at us from the other side of the car! So I rolled the window down, sending a lovely green cloud right in his face!

My ex was like, "Ooooh, sorry officer, I might have been going a bit fast!" and the copper said "hmmm, we're not interested in that, we're after people committing OTHER offences...why were you driving with the interior light on?"

Fortunately I'd been using the road book as a handy 'table', and even more fortunately it was open on the right page, so I said "oh, we were just checking the way home" and he came back with "why don't you know the way home?"!!!

"Because we went a different way Officer, and thought this way might be quicker to get home!"

Cue a VERY pissed off looking policeman leaving us at the roadside, without even so much as a warning!!!!!

I've only been pulled over once, when I was a weeeeeeee girl. I accidently happened to be in Brighton the day of the Labour party conference, and was trying to take a short cut round the side streets to avoid the main road which was blocked. An armoured van pulled me over and ordered me to get out. it was so scary.

These police had guns and weren't friendly (or hot). They had a dog and were about to get in the car when I said "you can't do that, this car's brand new I don't want dog hairs all over it" !!! I had recently bought the car and at that time I wanted to keep it nice and clean (i don't give a flesh now!!!). it just sort of came out without me thinking. Then they got suss with me.

They were looking underneath it with mirrors and stuff. The funniest thing was they asked me to open the bonnet. It was a new car (and I'm useless) and I didn't really know where the button thing was!!! When I fumbled around for a few mins they started asking me if I owned the car, where I was going etc. I couldn't tell them what I was actually doing, obviousy, so I said I was going shopping and they said "REALLY" in a kind of "that's a convenient excuse, I don't believe you" sorta tone. Then they radio-ed in my car reg and didn't believe I was the same person on my driving license - I admit my photo looked wierd, but it WAS me!

In the end, they let me go, but the whole situation was terrifying. I didn't like being treated like a criminal (even if I might have been!), and I was all on my own. I learnt never to go to Brighton when there's a conferance on.

Now I'm MUCH older (and wiser!) I don't think I'd mind so much and I would probably be a bit more cheeky (I don't like the police much - but then who does? :D )

Man, you should see the crap we take when we are doing VCP training(Vehicle Check Point)....Pretty much we show up whenever we want, and block off major intersections and stop random cars to talk to them.....Lots of people get VERY mad.....We had one car that was full of well to be stereo typical, they were all black and dressed like gangbangers.....Anyways, the car pulls up, my section commander goes to talk to them. All of a sudden I hear yelling, I look over and the driver is flashing a pistol......Well he definatly got my machine gun in the face..

We had our weapons slung, or set down out of the way. I had mine on my back...As soon as I saw the pistol, it was swung around into my hands, and I cocked it. Very distictive sound a maching gun makes when it is cocked. Needless to say they got very scared very fast. I had to sit there covering them all until we could get the police there to arrest them all. That was an exciting night.

Being on the other side of this alot, I find that I have kind of a biased opinion, though I have been arrested for BS reasons before, so I know that cops can be dicks sometimes. Easiest thing is to just cooperate, and be nice to them. Getting rude with them, will make them mad, and they will do things like a full car search. So now instead of 15 minutes for getting a warning for speeding, you are there for 2 hours while they search your car.

hate them hate them hate them.

I get pulled over all the time for stupid pathetic reasons. They just know theres a good chance they can book you for sometihng petty if they check your car thouroughly enough and that saves them having to go and actually do something useful to help the community because that might involove them actually working hard.

its funny how theyve got all that time to harass motorists yet when it comes to burglaries and break ins theyre always to busy to do anything about it.

I got pulled over twice in the first evening after passing my test.

I remember seeing this in Viz a few years ago...took me ages to find it online...

I think you should all give it a read...just incase...

I dont mind the police so much, I was pulled over exactly 2 weeks ago for driving a bit stupidly. I maintained that my driving wasnt dangerous, yes I did disagree with the police officer (rule 1 of how not to deal with the police) but agreed that my driving wasnt exactly ideal.
They gave me a very embarressing talking to (he totally got off on being bad cop) but took my details and let me go.

I felt stupid and belittled, but the fact was I did drive to quick and didnt pay proper attention to the road, OK so I guess it was dangerous. As a result I am now more careful and pay proper attention to the road, if he hadnt pulled me over I would still be driving without really thinking about it a possibly causing an accident (wouldnt be the first time  ) - Getting caught by a speed camera never really made me think about it at all.

They haven't done much with cameras over here. A while back they started doing "speed limit enforced by aircraft" and I don't think they ever did much with it. It was supposed to be a little Cesnea or something up in the sky with something that measured your time between two white lines painted on the road, and then they'd call it in to a cop who'd be sitting in his car waiting to pull you. I dont think it was successful.

Anyways, last run in I had with a cop was me and a friend skating a very busy, very steep, very turny road (would've been so fun). My friend was skating and I was driving his truck, and about 30 feet into the hill, the fuzz comes up the road the other direction and flips his lights. I kept driving, acting like I didn't know him, but he got it. They took his info and was told "any more stupid desicions and you're going in". The cop caught on to the fact I was driving him, but he didn't come after me, thankfully.

Is there any real crime to fight out there? They are stationing 8 cops around the local high school gym for a big rival game so people won't sneak in.....so stupid!

Bear in mind that the people driving about with no insurance are pushing your costs up as all insurance policies have a bit extra added to pay into a pool to cover uninsured drivers!!!
Also, the police are out looking for criminals. Burglars use cars. The more cars the police stop, the more burglars are caught. Obviously that also means innocent motorists being stopped.
My mate stopped a car not so long ago, for taking a strange route, and found it full of stolen goods. The driver was driving from city to city ripping off cars.
I expect you also whinge about the cases of disqualified drivers and uninsured drivers killing people - how can the police check if someone is licenced without stopping them?
I know it seems like a major pain in the arse and as though they are targetting motorists but often they are actually doing precisely what you want them to be doing.
Sometimes young drivers do get targetted a bit much but then young drivers are disproportionately represented in fatal accidents.
Oh, the police dont need a reason to pull you if you are driving. They have the power to stop you just to find out who you are and you have to tell them!

no offence mate, but thats one of the stupidest arguments ive ever heard, thats like saying "burglars eat food, so the police should go stop and search everyone as they leave the supermarket if they have food in their bags in case they're burglars".

im gonna leave this thread alone now before i go off on one of my anti-police rants cos it'll likely take pages and pages.

Fully agree but the justice side is out of the police hands because they dont get to choose who gets charged anymore, the CPS do, and when people are charged the courts let them off.
Believe me, there have been no useful reforms in the last 5 yrs for justice and policing in the UK is going down the drain!
Forget justice, you're in the wrong country for that!
