yeah, convert from miles to inches multiply by 1760*3*12....
kilometres to centimetres multiply by 1000*100....
reckon i'll stick with metric ;)
a km is about 5/8 of a mile, a metre is 3ft3inches and a centimetre in a bit more than a third of an inch. 100cm=1m and 1000m=1km
Also, in the US, it's spelt meter, in the uk it's metre. (btw, when are you guys going to give up on that ridiculous aluminium thing?) I'm not sure which spelling Aus and NZ go for...

Righto, i'll just get my anorak....

My mum is English and she always tells people when they ask what language you speak, She says "I'm from England therefore I speak English, and you speak improperly or "American" ". I always get a kick out of her making fun of American's, even though I am one, but hey I'm a half-brit, better then none at all I say. :P

The English spell alot of things I find very odd. Like Colour, Armour, and Mum :P....wait I say mum...I remember my sister got in trouble as a child in school cause of that one. Oh, and Centre, and Metre....I don't undestand it...its pronounced "Eeerrrr" no reeee....so...I dunno...eheheh.

the 'funny' spelling is due to the french influence on english - old english is germanic based and middle english had a huge french influence. americans spell things more phonetically or something....
