i bought 2 parakeets. i mean the small budgerigars. man im happy. ill update this topic very soon. meanwhile share what pets you have and how you feel with it.

A rabbit named Marsh and 5 fish in a tank.

Have two cats that live inside the roof crawl space, squeeze in and out under the eaves who don't belong to anyone....come and go as they please and take care of themselves...I have never fed them. They do a job on mice, rats and monitor lizards, all of which we have in the neighborhood, none of which come around here.

budgies are fun! Be sure to have adequate cuttlebone for them. They need the calcium. Two additional things that'll make things more fun for them:
1. Give them millet sprigs every now and then.
2. grow carrot greens from the tops you'd normally discard. Then give the leafy sprouted tops to the birds.

If you have the space, then give them a big cage so they can fly. This is something I did when I kept.birds.

at the moment this is what they have. a bigger cage then your average(almost like a voliere cage.
they have several sticks to jump over plus a mineral stick and a calcium stick. loads of millets yellow ones. they are not familiar with leaves so i didnt find them eating it. but i have this mix that has dried fruit and vegetables in and they eat that. bread is the first thing they ate that was non seed looking. there is a water bath and 2 toys. the basketball and the mirror with a bell which they both enjoy greatly. they are half tame at the moment. they jump on my hand when i reach to them. they do not come of themselve(one time occasionally) i still have a way to go. they eat of my hands. i do not expect them to talk im happy enough havin them love me and cuddle me which is a sign they are cool with you.

i could have bought a big sunbird but you know i was like yeah small. and the thing is with pets how prepared you may be u are never prepared. my front curtains of my window are being scratched . i underestimated the amount of feathers they loose. and when they eat mills it goes ooutside the cage.

but they are really lovely and im happy i boughtthem out of that torture chamber they lived in. 50 parakeets in a square thats so small. one is very old. and the other is young. i took the old one in mind that no one would buy him otherwise. his color is beautiful but in the parakeet world it is considered ugly. i took the dude anyway. he was hard to tame runnin away for like long. but he managed top eat of my hand and actually goes on my hand when i reach to him without running. so now the photo's

indeed, your two 'keets are the most fortunate! It's terrific how you're enjoying and caring for them. Especially enjoy the photo of them perched on your fingers.

We had two parakeets for years, Twit and Chirp, who raised two clutches of young'ns. Faces only a mother could love, I have to say.

A friend just sent me a picture of the new pet she'd gotten for her 11- and 7-year-old, a 5.5-foot–long ball python. "She's so cuddly." I'm going to her house today to see the kids. One last time while they're still alive.

I have a cat named Starkles who found my wife when she was out jogging one day. And you have seen Hudzley (oldwomansurfer named them both). They currently don't get along too well because Hudzley is to much of a pestasaurus for Starkles who prefers calm quiet interaction but we are making progress in getting them to some mutually acceptable behaviors . I blame you, Dreamsurf. And all the rest of you cursed pet people. We just picked up a second dog from the SPCA. Sam should should have been enough. 11-year-old shepherd mix we've had since he was in, like, dog elementary school. Now we have Steve, too. 4-month-old ridgeback mix. Possibly some, God help us, bloodhound.

Pacifica dog surf competition is August 5. If we start getting out now . . .

When my kids were little we had a parakeet who was allowed out of the cage to play bird tag. The kiddos would hide and "pee wee" would fly around the house looking for them. It never took more than 2 minutes for her to hear the giggles and land on their shoulders.

My job was getting her back in the cage and poop patrol.

Rob, Thanks for giving a nice doggie a good home. Maybe your new doggie will like the water. Some Ridgebacks don't. Most Bloodhounds I know do not like it at all. Young dogs are impressionable and learn through observation. So, if Steve sees other doggies hitting the surf, then he may do it, too. But, if not, then you'll be most kind to let him remain on terra firma.

Fortunately they are in Australia , In this case Tasmania, and I'm not in Austria yet, mountains of bureaucratic paper pushing to go,through before I even leave Australia. The whole Sahara forest made into paper for it.
