What surfing van to get?

Handed in my notice. Heading to SW France and Portugal.

Requirements-
Under £5000
Reliable and last at least a year since I only know how to change a lightbulb.
Needs to be safe
Enough space for a mini kitchen and bed
Mount my board on roof

Options are Ford Transit, VW Transporter or Mercedes Vito. I'm currently leaning towards a Ford transit as they are cheap and popular in UK. VW seems to have a more solid build but less space and more expensive. Mercedes vito are filled with parts problems and rust.

It was my birthday yesterday and my brother gave me a brand new VW surf van. I don't think you would be happy with this model.

No idea about vans, but well done on the lifestyle choice...as I sit here having had to cancel my first surf trip for a month due to someone not feeling great...not that I'm bitter or anything
