why do you guys all hate this movie? sure its corny and stupid but so is most other entertainment out there. i remember most people on here liking point break with keanu reeves, that movie was even more unrealistic and predictable. it had a better plot though.

I thought it was brilliant! I was giggling most of the way through surfer dude, it's a highly intelligent parody of accepted surf stereotypes and preconceptions. It's not meant to be serious, if you try and take it (or yourself) too seriously you're gonna miss the point.

It's very unfortunate that some people lack the capacity to just take a movie for what it is and nothing more.

I'd imagine that most people have brains and can figure out that it's made for entertainment purposes only and nothing more. Any idiot who judges surfers based on a Matthew McConaughey are far too ignorant to live and anyone who's truly worried that they will be looked at in a negative way because of the movie are far too insecure.

Screw the nei-sayers and go surfing.

I thought it was entertaining, but not awesome. No it does not depict your regular joe surfer, but I would bet that most everyone knows people exactly like the actors in that movie whether they are surfers or not makes no difference.
