Dirt Bike/Motocross

Postby LucasG » Thu Oct 30, 2008 12:57 am

I am seriously considering buying a dirt bike just to reach some beaches which are reachable only by 4WD. Since I have a Grand AM and selling it and getting a 4WD truck or something is a lot more expensive and gas consuming... This idea about getting a dirt bike and putting a surfboard rack on it as I saw on a surfer magazine might actually be something viable.

Would anyone be able to guide me a little here. I am really looking for some adult sized dirt bikes that can take me for over 25 miles of beach sand and what not.

How long does gas last on those things? Is it a good idea?

No.
You fall off dirtbikes a lot off road, its an everyday occurence. You'll wreck your board.

I have a dirtbike and I had it all set up with a board rack that I bought in Cali. I used it to go the 17 kms to the break I like. As soon as I hit 60kmph, I would be all over the road by the board catching all the air and pulling me over. I sucked it up, and held on. On the way home from my second "bike trip", the board must have finally said screw it, and the nose snapped. Maybe the board was already fatigued, whatever, but I decided it was a bad idea. I gave the rack to some local kid for his bike. Now we are both better off.

just my $0.02 worth of experience.....

Good comments. I guess I'll have to save up for that truck.
