he is stupidly good..was just the comments on the page seemed to be in awe of it... still great playing... much prefer that kind of thing to Vai, Satch, Malmstein...more appropriate and accessible listener-based music.
might be biased because i prefer acoustic as a more honest instrument (nothing to hide behind what you play is what you get kinda thing), no room for mistakes. excusing the likes of Jimi and a few others from the division.

I'm pretty sure that theres a case to be made for electrics being every bit as technical as an acoustic - especially with high gain, as every mistake and dragged finger is amplified hugely...

I find the only difference technically is string tension and finger pressure..

p.s. there are few things more beautiful than a heavy song done on acoustics.

not a question of technical... anything played well can be technically good from the triangle to the uileann pipes (not my favourite instrument by any means but widely regarded as the hardest instrument to play). even with high gain, distortion, overdrive, wah pedals etc. often make it easy to recover from mistakes, or duff notes. not that you won't hear them just that they're not quite as obvious. with high gain comes added sustain so its easier to blend a duff note into the song. do the same thing on an acoustic and there's no denying it happened lol.

don't get me wrong i appreciate a good electric guitar player, just that i reckon any song should sound good acoustically before effects are used to augment the sound.

absolutely suck at the bass... love good funky bass lines, stevie wonder... loadsa motown... just feels really clunky and awkward to play after playing a 6-string.
really weak instrument in the wrong hands and unfortunately mine are totally the wrong hands..

I know exactly what you mean - I was like that until I blagged my way into playing bass in a band (no guitarist place available). Since then, I can honestly say that playing bass has strengthened my acoustic/electric guitar technique. :D

Yamha's are the most inconsistent guitars some of the really really nice and others horrible price being absolutely no guarantee have played cheapo yamaha's that sounded better than there higher end ones  funny the best 12 string i ever played in my life was a yamaha picked up the same model in another shop and it sounded like shite...... Actually thats a good lesson when buying guitars always play the damn things first as from model to model its not always the same

got hold of a guitar again! started learning bob dylan the times they are a changin yesterday. can't believe how easy it is... although i don't think my timing is quite right  haven't really got much time to practice at the mo though as gotta spend a fair bit of time in hospital these next two weeks, but at least i now have something to look forward to. i might even make my own vid of my beginner-style gutar playing when i get a bit more confident and see what you think! i'm sure i will humiliate myself!!!

that link you posted is awesome

^^^^^ makiing vids are fun and really good practise. Look forward to seeing one

Glad to hear you got a guitar back :D Dylans stuff is great as its not too hard but sounds great. I also like Playing Nick Drake stuff on occation its more finger picking orientated but by comparison not too hard either. Great stuff to play alone.
