I went to Reading last year. Metallica were just the best. Saw them again at Earls Court in December. They were so much better than when they were at Reading. And at Reading they were unbeliveable!!!

Bad Religion - Sydney

Postby surf patrol » Mon Jan 05, 2004 4:11 am

I saw Bad Religion a good few years ago in Sydeny at the Coogee Bay Hotel - they were incredible (apart from a bit where they slagged off the English)

The best gig I saw was the Vans Warp Tour... 12 hours of the All American Rejeccts, Ataris, Less Than Jake, Vendeta Red, The Used.. etc and another 50 bands... all in New York City

Music festivals are a whole different deal

Festivals are a whole different deal - they are a great way to see good bands in a short space of time.

Oh, welcome to Surfing Waves vitopilot

Best gig,....

Postby Duncs » Mon Jan 05, 2004 4:08 pm

Hey guys thought id contribute my musical experiences.

I saw stereophonics live a couple of years back [only went to see feeder support em] and i must say that i was bored!!!!

I saw Metallica at Reading too, and i was bored at that too,...i dunno they just didnt do it for me.

I am extremely jealous of the gig with Hondo Maclean, and FFAF, etc etc,...that woulda been awesome!!! I reckon watching unsigned bands b4 they are famous is definitely the best thing to do. You get to meet the band, see em play at really intimate venues, and dont have all the commercialism either!!! - EVERYONES HAPPY

As far as "proper" gigs go. I reckon Queens of the Stone Age at Brixton tops it for me. It was mental!!!! I like Brixton, its intimate considering its a major venue. Never watch bands at Arena's it just aint the same. I feel sorry for all the people watching Feeder on the comfort and sound arena tour, u missed out on the same tour last year at better venues!!! HA

But for me, watching throughsilence, live at rehearsals with just 3 of my mates is pretty special. These unsigned bands hey,......

yeh Duncs. i agree that smaller more intimate gigs are better... to make you even more jealous, i saw FFAF play a gig in Newport down by me, months and MONTHS before they got famous. everyone down here in wales knew them already like, and it was just great. but the thing about bigger gigs is that you can crowd surf better, and for longer. i saw the mighty mighty bosstones when they supported sum 41 in cardiff arena, and that was a class gig, cos i got to crowd surf and skank to my hearts content :) one of the next best things to real surfing that is!
