Half a metre of new snow here last night, and I'm unemployed 8) Think tomorrow could be epic if the mountain roads get cleared.

I'm 6'4" with size 12 feet - never have a problem getting the right width boards.

My current rides for the white stuff are a 166cm K2 Ambush, semi wide, with built in risers, don't think they are made any more tho, and a 164cm Arbor Abacus, which is a powder/freeride board - quite wide 26.5cm waist, haven't had any problems with toe drag, and it's the closest thing to riding a surfboard in the snow that I've ever used. Totally sick board when there's freshies, goes great on steep bits, but a bit unpredictable and twitchy on the flats.

But just go to a few shops and see what they say. Make sure you try loads of boots on, and get them properly fitted, sore feet aren't fun.

does it matter that im only 160 lbs? all my surfboards except my gun are no bigger than 6'4 and only one is a fish. i like performance, ill probably spend more time doing trails than terrain parks.

You can probably get away with a shorter board if you're that kind of weight, all depends what sort of riding you want to do, and the conditions you'll be riding. Longer is usually better for powder/speed but shorter will be looser.

It's probably best to try to demo a few different board/binding combos to see what you like.

Over a metre of snow here in the last couple of days - got up early to hit the mountains, but they're all shut with 4 - 5 metre snow drifts on the access roads to get up there

Tomorrow is going to go off, sun's out, freshies to be had.

Get some heavy duty exercise bands, and do band pulls that simulate paddling - fast, and high reps. There are some videos on youtube showing what to do. Also work your shoulders this way - front/side/rear delts. And swim laps in a pool. And do pushups and pullups.

Thats what I've done for the last 3 weeks to keep my upper body strength up - and I think when I get back to the water tomorrow I will have improved my surfing endurance while on the road inland.
