Nice of you to have a gripe on a congratulations thread. I hope someone returns the favour next time you're really proud of something.

Whoa ..hey, jesus, lets not all have a ruck about it. I don't think anyone was getting at me particularly.

for the record, i've done a specialist degree, which has equiped me with knowledge and skills that will benefit me in my chosen field. I am not way an expert, but i do have a greater understanding of what's involved with the work.

Aside from the study, I have made some contacts through the university, which are likely to be very benefitial. For example one tutor regularly works on events such as Rolling Stones, Bill Bailey Tour, Six Nations Rugby, international conferences, Liverpool 2008 cultural events, etc etc..

The grade wasn't really the main factor in attending uni, rather a means to gain a greater knowledge and meet people already working in the industry....I am proud of my achievement because I know I did work hard...but I'm not particularly bothered if it gives Gordon Brown a stiffy or not.

I have been offered a couple of opportunities, directly related to the events industry, which I think just aren't for me at the moment. But I have not doubt that I will work in this field in the future, because it has been my focus for years, and there's not a lot that can change that.

Thanks everyone for the supportive comments. I dress up like a t!t and take my bow on thursday... might even post a pic if your good.

Maybe I'm just old school (literally) but you needed better than that to even PASS your O levels back in my day........

Ah well, guess times change......... :)

Yes you are and no doubt in your day you had coal for toothpaste as well.

Your old brain must be addled. An O-level pass mark was 40%.

Actually - the pass mark for a grade C was dynamic and varied based on the examining board, the number of pupils per exam and a couple of other things I can't remember (might have been the overall yearly scores - meaning if you had a year where everyone got high marks, the pass mark went up, and vice versa - but I'm not sure).

I did hear of one exam getting down to 50% for a C once, but certainly never 40%.....not saying you're wrong - just saying that I hadn't heard of it. I wish it was true - I would have perhaps got more Bs and As instead of the 5 Cs

Anyway.........

Ah sound, where did you decided on? Nah I left there last October. I'm living in Bushmills, on the Causeway Coast of Northern Ireland now :D Pretty sick here tho I potentially might be retuning to Lanhydrock, its all still very up in the air at the moment. Freetime, yes use it very wisely :) ;)
