Skateboarders advice please

Right, i've not been on a skateboard since i was about 8 but nowadays i surf ok, snowbaord ok and have seen sort of longboard skateboards and fancy getting one.

So i have a couple of questions if anyone can help

1. Where i live is either very flat or very hilly; am i gonna have much fun?

2. How much should i spend as a beginner

3. Should i buy a complete board or should i get wheels/trucks/board individually?

If there is anything else i need to know please just say. I honestly know nothing about it so treat me like an idiot if you need to

yep its the same here i just go for a spin on it and still have fun.

if u think u are going to stick with it spend some cash on it, i started with a cheap one and it was not much good.

i would go for a complete, have a look at the lush website they make nice boards that are really easy to ride

have a read up on the lush site too they have a step by step guide

I wouldnt go with a complete. its better to spend good money to get good trucks and wheels cause lighter stuff will really help with learning tricks. And complete wheels usally are really soft and slow you down, not to mention get flat spots easily. For now you can get a blank deck to go along with it, and then get a better one later.. But even I use blank decks and I find theyre fine as long as theyre manufactured somewhere good.

Used trucks and wheels aren't that expensive second hand, and since theyre professional grade they'll probley still have lots of life in them. Just get a wider board for now (8 inches) and with time you can downgrade to something like a 7.75 inches or 7.5 because thinner boards are better for fliping and stuff.

Reckon i'm gonna try and put something together myself cause that should be fun. Definatly starting off with an 8" board and some decent wristguards.

How much are decent trucks to buy new then? I wouldnt like to buy them second hand jsut cause i dont know what i'm looking for at all

great decks.....indy trucks.....can't go wrong here..

I prefer to get my wheels at the local shop tho.....the ones the paige have are not my favorite.

Buy cheap buy twice! spend as much as you can aford and dont go for cheap coz they snap as i found out

^ If you think I posted cheap boards you are wrong. These are good blanks not cheap ones. YOU can pay for a name brand if U want.

75 parks in the UK.....u guys have it going on. Gotta catch up with California tho, 350+ parks spread around out here.

bummer....we got some like that too. I think the one in our town was built just to shut people up. That was the extent of their forethought.


As a kid there were no skate parks, as a young adult it was illegal, as an old fart there is a park in every other town. Go figure?

runny is one of my fravorate......to be fair there are some good parks sprouting up all over...my comment was more based on the volume of metal parks that all seem to share the same poor designs...
