Off to France, Brittany from August through to September. Normally go to Kernow but it is cheaper with the ferry crossing to go to France  :unuts:

I would say something, but I have never been to Europe so it would be just me saying "have fun!"

Try living on this rock.

We *were* going to go over to the mainland at the end of this month. Until I got onto the Condor website to book the tickets. Jersey to Weymouth on the slow boat (10 hour crossing!!), returning two weeks later... £478. For the two of us and my car (taking his would have been an extra £100).

And the best thing... if we lived on the mainland and wanted to come here, the exact same trip (well... UK to Jersey return instead)... is only £231. Thats over £200 LESS, for the same thing... fleshin' madness

We've decided to bugger off to France on his boat instead (we've only taken it to Guernsey so far). It's about £200 to fill the boat right up, and that would cover us for THREE trips to Carteret and back. He has a house and car over there, so we don't have to bother with hotels or hire cars.

It's plain fleshin' annoying that it's cheaper to get to France than it is to the UK Mainland... for an Island that is *supposed* to be part of Britain, they sure know how to make us feel like proper foreigners!!

It's been YEARS since I visited the Channel Islands, but I'd happily swap with you and you can come live in shithole rip off land and I'll live where I'm only 5 minutes from the sea in almost all directions......... ;)
