Surfing Waves

i had a late tack off an a wave a few weeks back and i made the drop in but i was then in the white wash, i was slowely working my way along to the open face wave when this guy was paddeling and took of on the wave. did he drop in, because i was surfing the wave and was about to get to the open face, but i wasnt actualy on the face?

Maybe - but just sounds like the person was being inconsiderate and seized their chance or perhaps they did not see you

If you were in the whitewash, then you didn't have the wave. I wouldn't blame a guy for taking the wave in that situation. I figure if you ain't surfing the clean section then how is anyone suppose to know if you'll make there or not. Why let a good wave go by?? JMHO

exactly, i didnt get pissy with the guy and it looked like he had a nice wave

It's a drop in, plenty of times it's possible to work through or around the whitewater, it's called making a section. . . usually people who drop in in that situation are poor surfers who don't know how to make sections themselves making a rash assumption that you are not going to make it. . . . . it doesn't necessarily cause a problem if they drop in but it can do if they physically obstruct your line or bring another section down as they take off, also it tends to break the concentration slightly and obscure the view of what the wave is doing. . . all part of the challenge of surfing with geeks I suppose, the danger for them is getting hit.

The guy is right to asume your not going to make the section.

No detriment to yuourself bluesnow but the amount of times i kick out or pull out of waves for the person on the peak, who then fails to get it, annoys me.
You soon realise who the people around you are going tpo make the drop and paddle regardless.
Small waves weds am a dick paddled for everything even though i reminded him of the "etiquite" didn't matter in the end as he was only riding straight to shore. His dick head mates on the inside were a different matter.

Make the section call the guy off is what i'm trying to say.

cool, there waqs no doubt in my mind that i was goin to make the section and get onto the face of the wave as i had done it so many times befor that day, maby that guy had only just got out and as im a grom thought i wouldnt be able to make it back to the face.

thats a drop in for sure but i wouldnt hassle a guy for it. it sucks when you get a good wave and didnt see some asshole on it, give it up to him and he still gives you xxxxx for it.

id say its a drop in but you cant blame the guy for thinking you werent going to make the section. thats if he saw you at all. if you knew you were going to make it a call would have done. i dont think one drop in is enough to get arsey about in any situation. most people paddle accross and apologise afterwards.

I think it can technically be dropping in.. but at the same time he had a better opportunity/chance for a good ride.

It's kinda like playing black jack/21.. if you have 20 or 21 you beat the person who busted by getting 22..

in this case you got 22 and busted by being in the whitewash.. and he had a 20 or 21 for being closer to the pocket.
