No should be fine, surely? Tropical as a basecoat then cold (in winter) and cool (in summer) on top. :)

Tropical wax is rubbish unless your in really warm water. Just keep your board out of direct sunlight and you'll be fine. I took tropical wax with me to costa rica and never used it as it kept coming off the board. So i ended up using cold water all the time and had no probs.

Oh actually I see what you mean. I would just scrape all the old wax off and start again with tropical basecoat followed by cool water wax top layer.

I'd just get the wax of and stick cool on, it's too warm in the north sea for cold at the mo.

Just get your girlfriend to sit on it naked, she gets a free bikini wax, and you get your wax removed

so warmer water wax is more effective as base coats and cooler water on top?

some dude walked up to me on the beach yesterday and asked for some of my wax. he said he had cool water wax on his board and it would come off in the warm (70 degree) water. was he wrong?

He should of had warm water wax. If you go by the wax temps whether you have a base coat on or not you should be fine. Stick your board in the sun for 5 min. scrape the old wax off and put on the proper wax (if you want a base coat put that on too). Dude it takes 20 min. out of your day. Why chance a good day with crappy wax that wont work?

Yup. The warmer the temp rating the harder the wax.

Where I'm at: I just use warm water wax in the summer and fall and I use the warm water wax as the base coat w/ cool water wax on top for the winter and spring.
