Surfing Waves

At the weekend was having a good surf then al of a sudden i stud on something on the bottom witch stung my foot, It hurt a bit but put an end to my session

My foot went red around the area for about 2 hours and had to walk on my tip toes, does this sound like a weaver fish sting and what is the best cure?

Hot water, as hot as you can bear immediately after you've been stung is the best cure for a weaver fish sting. Immerse your foot for a s long as possible. The pain should subside after about 30mins.
A weaver fish sting feels like you've just trod on a needle.

Yep, weaver stings aint much fun!

Put your foot in hot (as hot as you can take) water or have a wee in your wetsuit boot and put it back on. Bit grim but it does make it feel better.

Next time, keep your foot on the fish, dig your hands under foot, bring your foot up complete with weaver, get hold of the little bleeder and beat some sense into it on your board!

Nope!

It'll afford you a bit of protection but the spines on weavers are quite long and VERY sharp!

hmmmm. So, the only options are to pee on my foot. No problem, it happens most friday nights anyway.

Or to make soup from the offending appendage.

Nice one. I'll look you up if I'm ever in trouble.

Most life guards will have a kettle boiling as you are walking up the beach, easy to see someone who has been stung.

I had one of those once and the lifeguards had a pot of boiling hot water, I think almost everyone who went in the water got stung.
