just thought I'd say hi! I'm having a fantastic time in Oahu. Bought a 2nd hand board - 9ft & heavy to carry to the beach and back up 3 flights of stairs  my arms are dead. It's battered with lots of ding repairs but it floats, seems to work ok and it was only 50quid! Surfing is ok. took me an HOUR (seriously) to paddle out to the line up this morning. it's sooooooooooo far out and my arms can't cope! a great sense of achievement though. Waves not very big at the moment. very very hot. have to surf between 5am and 8am. already sunburnt. loving sipping cocktails under palm trees by the beach! this is the life :D not taken many photos cuz i don't want to leave a camera on the sand while i surf/swim. will probably post some when I get back! hope you're all having fun!

What breaks are you surfing?

Tell me how you located and purchased the board? I have a friend in Oahu, and am considering having him get me a board from Craigslist. His finder's fee will be that he can use the board during the 51 weeks/year that I'm not there.

Just go to Oahu and there's millions of boards for sale!

Thaya, it's awesome to hear from you! Sounds like it's all going sweet! Where have you been surfing then?

Everything sounds great to me...except for that 1hr paddle out. Too much work for me.

dont surf waikiki if you can get somewhere else. its the smallest wave on the south shore. and make sure to use ocean currents when you initially paddle out. dont fight the waves. very smart surfing in the morning, its not as crowded?

I have to say that I really enjoyed Queens and Canoes in Waikiki. I was in the circle hotel, so I could walk across the street and paddle out.

I saw people paddling out at Oh-Dark-hundred, so it would be pretty hard to beat the crowds.

having THE MOST AMAZING TIME EVER! found a spot south of waikiki where the locals surf - bigger waves but lots of coral

went up to the north shore again... rented a board (even though it was flat) and spent a day (and I mean a day - it took forever!!!) paddling from spot to spot... it was amazing across to pipeline and then sunset beach. my arms and shoulders have totally given up.

The most beautiful place in the world.... golden sands, palm trees, gorgeous blue water and deserted beaches!!!

off to the big island for a few days to see the volcanoes and give my shoulders a rest!

 Mind out paddling across from break to break on the North Shore. Tigers patrol the deeper water.

But you should be ok if there's other people around. How is the surf on the South Shore?

hey i live there lol. too bad volcano just erupted and the chain of craters road is closed. aside from that dont get too close to any steam vents cause yeah...thats how we lose the most tourists each year.

you should deffinately hit up honoli'i. we're getting a nice swell this weekend. its right out of hilo, like 5 mins. just stop by at orchidland surf shop in downtown and ask for stan. yeah maybe ill see you out on the water soon. just head out early, around 7:30ish before the crowd. but then school started so it shouldnt be too bad.
