I've been trying to figure out why surfing is so popular in the UK. Nasty weather, fridgid waters, unforgiving coastlines yet it seems there are equal to more UK folks on the message board than us Yanks and Aussies. Is it just because the surfing is that great over there..there are not many other outdoor recreational hobbies to choose from, or are people in the UK still California Dreamin' and think the Beach Boys were better than the Beatles? Which is it?

How do you do that KS, are bungies suitable enough, or do you need something a bit stronger?

No there's loads of other stuff to do!

I climb, mountain bike, snowboard, dive and walk all over here. I'd do more but there is only so much one person can do!

Loads to do outdoors over here guys, come see. :)

Beach boys any day, and yes always California dreaming and Bali, Aus, Maui. That will do for now my heads starting to hurt, can`t take the strain of all those images.

i think it's sweet that we brits surf!!! the waters are genrally freezing, surfs gota be the hardest to learn on! and we rarely get good surf, then there's getting there... i'm not going to go on because i may upset some touchy girly boys, but the point is... we stick to it and it's the raw spirit of us that keeps us in the water! whats cooler than that!! 8)

Milo, thanks for the article link. Found the article interesting. I've always been intrigued with surfing in the UK, even though I'm in California. I like cold and think it would be a blast to surf in the UK (for some reason and am going to do it one day).

All you non UK guys and girls should try our coast line at least once, i`m sure you would love it.
Billie, If you get the chance do it, we have some amazing coast line. The west coast being the most consistent ( Cornwall, North Devon, Ireland, Wales), the east coast can be good and as for Scotland beautiful and some great waves. Have i sold it to ya yet
Brown sauce yummy

Warchild, You ain't all that, even Bowdy got the better of you
