I want to start building a quiver but i need some advice. I surf everything from knee high waves to choppy 6 footers to 8 foot and glassy. Most of the breaks here are steep, mostly mushy. I weight about 173 pounds, around 6 foot 4.

My choices are between a 6' 4" Erie shortboard ($400), a 6' 2" Neilson vaccum bagged Epoxy handshaped ($450), or a webber 6' 3" fatburner with a big swallow tail ($410)

I have a 6' 8" JS Shortboard thats really good when its been 2 and 6 feet. I want to keep that but i could trade it and get another one of the boards.

My favorite is the Neilson cause its so durable, but the Erie or fatbuner are nice. I really cannot decide. I've talked to several different surfers, shop owners, and still need help.

I can catch waves pretty easily most like (85% maybe?) and i can carve and pump, and am starting to do floaters. i suck.

so, which board should i get?

Personally im always hesitant to get a board with dimentions i have never tried. So if at all possible try and borrow a simular board and see how it works for you.

A have a friend who really had bad luck with finding the right board so he resorted to buying secondhanders testing em out and then reselling them if he didnt like. He actually made a small profit so it wasnt an excerisice in futility

i rode a 6' 2" today, but it was poly, not epoxy. at first it was really hard, but by the 3rd or 4th wave i tried i could get going. these neilsons are supposed to float a lot better than poly.

your friend had a good idea, but there is almost NO market for used boards around here. it sucks :(
