Scrub hard in small circles. Makes for better bumps.

Go clockwise northern hemisphere, counter in the south. :D

Buffoon? I don't think so... I've scrubbed it on in straight motions, circular truly does work better for my 2 cents...

my words of wisdom as someone who had problems with wax and not sliding off the board when riding:

Wax on anyway, anywhere, just not on the bottom of the board :D!

After a sesh, or an hour or so of being in the water, use a wax comb to rough it up and create a nice rough, grippy riding surface to stand on again. Make sure you use appropriate wax for water temp wherever you are surfing as well. After that you should be good to go :D !

What about waxing a foamy?

me mate just bought one I told him it didnt need any wax on it as it shouldnt be slipy????

When I had a go there was no chance of standing on it with out slipping off, Do wax it or buy some sort of sticky grips?

Wax it. It will do fine with wax. I had some friends come here and went and rented a foamy for their daughter and I asked about wax and the guy at the store said to do two things. Wear a rash guard and wax the board. It(wax) worked just fine.

start with a base coat wax followed by a top coat wax determined by the heat of your sea. the bottom coat wax helps the top coat stick and thus super sticky board :)

Waxing should be the one thing that even a newbie can do with confidence on the beach infront of other surfers and pretend to know what they are doing (take off the wrapper and don't wax the bottom anyway). Having your wetsuit on backwards (zipper in the front), leash on the wrong ankle (on front foot forward on board) will give you away really quickly though as being clueless and a beginner!

Took a mate surfing (his first time) last summer. Got into my wetsuit, turned round - "Dude, the knee pads go on the front..." :D
