Surfing Waves

Ok I know this is a complete ranting post...but hey...

Ok, so today is the best Phuket ever gets. It was easliy 10-15ft faces and offshore. So i pull out the 6'6 (my favourite board) and paddle out. I catch a decent wave and I jump off in the closeout, but my leash broke and the lip of the closeout landed straight on the board, snapping it clean in 2.

So I swimm back in through the heaving surf, collapse on the beach. What a great day!!

Hey Dec, look at it this way, at least you have perfect Phuket waves to snap boards in.

ya its better to snap a board in great conditions than conditions thats completely suck..

Heh! it's great to have the ability to surf in conditions that break boards!

The waves I catch (because I'm not skilled enough) could hardly snap a board! Well, maybe they could if you rode all the way to the beach, then jumped up and down on your board, but I wish I could surf anything over 5ft!

out of curiosity, what does anyone here do with snapped boards? Bin them?

Cut them out to make little grommet boards, sand them into a skimboard, try and surf the nose of it on a small day. I try not to bin them, if I can't find a use for them they get piled up...looks pretty cool when people come over and see.

cant they be put back together if there not epoxy?

Yea they can, but they will just brake again if you put any strain on it. Plus it adds a lot of weight.

I too have heard they can be fixed. Also what I have heard they are never the same and a decent surfer it will make a difference when riding.

hey dec...i wanted to kno what do you think about boards made from thailland... are they good?
