Surfing Waves

This was the weirdest....

Ok the waves sucked....
My friends al merrick surfboard got this huge deep ding in it. We dropped it off at longboard house. Only problem...we live in tampa. Then on the 12th my new nsp board got a 6in. crack from the nose down. we took it to cocoa beach surf co(where i bought it). Turns out my board is a factory defect.I got a new board which is cool. I have never been on a surf trip like this. Post your stories. I know mines nothing compared to most people. This was the FIRST ding ive EVER goten.

My “weird” surf trip is also set in Florida. My friend has a place in Ormond Beach (just N. of Daytona) that he invites me to. He says the surf is O.K. I get there and its flat. I mean flatter than what I’m used in the heartland. We drive up and down the coast – nothing. I fly out in a week. Two days later I get calls from my buddy saying the surf has really picked up. He tells me he was surfing chest and overhead size waves at Flaggler Pier, when he sees this woman out there ripping. He paddles over to her and says, “What do you do, surf for a living”? She takes a wave and doesn’t respond. So later he clarifies, “I meant that as a compliment” and she says, “oh, I thought you might have been saying I should get a real job”. Next day my buddy over hears other surfers talk about seeing Lisa Anderson out yesterday. So my buddy realized at that moment he had paddled up to the five time world champ and asked if she surfed for a living.

Oh wow that's weird that's so cool though hehe

It's always funny when you meet people and don't realise who they are,...but famous people! HAHA, especially if she thought your mate was having a go at her....

I was in the water one time with only my buddy in the northeast USA. It was rainy and late in the day and at some removed spot we had not surfed before. We were way the hell out when we noticed that the water was "changing color" in front of us. Then it began to change all around us. It went from clear to really dark colored and murky. We were like wtf and started to get sketched out. Then I saw some fish splashing around and feeding all around us. Upon further inspection, noticed that fish were after school of squid, and these guys were blasting their ink in the water in hopes of not getting eaten. We paddled in and it was definitely a weird surfing experience.
