next week we have 1.5 ft at 16 sec waves, with very light cross/onshore winds (2-6 mph). The only thing ive ever seen close to this at my beach was 1 feet at 14 sec, and that made really fast close out barrells. so am in for good surf, or is it too small?

chances are it'll work but the sets will be a long time apart... Which area of cost are we looking at here? and which beach.

We had it at about that height once and even though it it was kinda small it was fun.
But i suppose it just depneds on the break and what its usually like around that height.

looking at the southeastern coast of the US, Hunting island. It breaks good on ESE and SE, and i forgot to mention the swell direction was ESE

If I read my surf report and it said 1'6" I'd stay home, not worth an hour's drive and $10 in gas...
If it says anything close to 2' - 4', I'm going. Fortunately here in SoCal, 2' - 4' is kind of the norm. Not always, but generally.

knowing the area as I've never been there Its hard to call but I'd say you 'll prob get *somthing* ridable o the sets. but Like I said there will proberly be long lulls.
Depends how desperate you are!

I was down at Wrightsville yesterday. There were 1.5 maybe 2 footers the only problem it was a beach break. Nothing to ride.
To where on Saturday there was a shin high break on and I went out and for the size of it I got a few and it was fun for little shin high stuff.

Mmmmmm, well, my favourite break in Tenerife was 2ft at 13 secs today, and was good surfing all be it small, but from where I was I could see the next break along the beach, a slightly different angle, which I don't surf unless someone is there to hold my hand, and it was overhead, or bigger, and it was packed.
So I guess it all depends on the local stuff.
But it has potential.

oh and agree on the long period between sets, like two minutes, thats what I had, GF fell asleep in beach tent cos she said it was flat, and then missed all my good waves DOH!
