Anyone watch this show? I'm watching the premier right now on HBO and I'm a little disappointed. I was expecting a show that didnt try so hard to be "in" with the surf world and the character Sean is not a very good actor. What did you guys think?

It is a bit weird, hopefully it doesn't go too "surfers enlightenment", I can't stand that crap.
I don't know what the grandfathers was getting so worried about, most times when I have a hot shower after I been surfing my feet are so numb that it feels like my legs are just stumps! It's the cold man, I'm surprises at his age he's not noticed it before.
The kid is a bit of a rubbish actor, but I suppose you can't be good at surfing and acting, (there was that lad off Home and Away who could do both).
I might give it a try next week, first episodes can often be hit or miss.

Filmed in Imperial Beach just south of San Diego. Not sure I'll watch it at all...

I agree with all you said. But wasn't John John Florence stunt double for the kid in a bunch of scenes? I thought I read that in Surfing magazine.

WHAT!?!
I thought the whole point was that all the actors could actually surf!
I couldn't wait to see Al Bundy in the water!!
I say "the whole point", I'd never heard of this program, the actors, the beach, or even the country it's set in until you started this thread IDynamite.
However, even though 3 posts ago I wasn't too keen, I'll be downloading it next week and will give you my opinion on episode 2!

Yea, Jon Jon Florence did most of the surfing doubles for that other kid. Kinda stupid if you ask me!

i just saw episode two....to be honest i think this show is poorly done. I like the idea of the how, but I find a lot of the dialougue just corny for lack of a better word. Example: Nurse: I surf. You were awesome. Its just awkward in a lot of parts. The surf scenes are pretty cool, but man, the kid is such a bad actor, im really surprised they chose him to play such a big role especially since there were probably thousands of kids wanting to play that character.
the theme song is awesome, anyone know what song that is?

Saw 5 min last night... Desperate Housewives for Surfing... totally inappropriate for surfers IMHO.

Hee hee, I think that’s a bit harsh, but I see where you're coming from.
The dialog is a bit corny, but how could it not be? We are after all watching Californian surfers
I'm gonna continue watching and supporting the show (by downloading illegally from tinterweb).
(along as that bloody parrot doesn’t fix the kids neck, surely that’s Johns job)

The Parrot fixxed him. No signs of injury at all LOL. Still I'll keep watching it to see who/what Jhon is. 3rd episode was on last nigh, it was a little slow, but good.

ya, just finished the 3rd ep. Not so good i thought....though i will give it time to build its story. Now i am all confused about who/what john is....
I think i sensed some foreshadowing when the manager said "jesus christ", and then the camera showed john....
