Mainly asking DBBB and Papa Woolacombe as I know DBBB had one, and Papa Woolacombe has made a surf film.
Wheres the best place to get a waterproof camera? What would be the best way to film and take pics of surfing?
I know this has been asked before (by me lol)Ive done some searching and the new GoPro Digital Hero 3 camera looks good, so I am thinking of getting this unless someone knows anything bad about it?

Not sure about waterproof video housings... I'm pretty sure they cost a fortune...
If you want stills, get a digital automatic (not an SLR) from a major manufacturer who also make waterproof housings.
I have a Sony DSC W7 with a 45m waterproof housing, and the whole lot only cost me $900 3 years ago. Plus, you get a good camera for out of water use too.

Not sure about the price for a HD video cam housing. I have seen them for upwards of $2000, but that's a scuba diving set up with strobes/lights etc.
I haven't done any movie/video filming at all, and most of my still photography is scuba diving shoots (both on 35mm film and digital).

Someone staying at the surf camp I was at had a GoPro, it was a film one as opposed to digital, but he was happy with it. I've seen some of the pics and they've come out fine.

You can make your own dirt cheap from a hardware store, out of a soil pipe (not sure if you call it that in the US, and other bits of plumbing, i've seen pics and description of hoe to make it on another site, if i get time later i'll have a hunt around.
