Warm enough in the UK for a 3-2 wetsuit yet!?

what do you reckon!? i`ve got a new 3-2 which has sealed seams but short arms and i`m tempted to try it out on friday.

i went out on saturday with an old leaky 4-3 which was ok, but i thought my tighter fitting newer wetsuit might not be too bad.

or should i borrow my friends spare 5-3 and be all comfy-cosy!?

I've been wearing my 3:2 with a 1.5m vest underneath plus gloves and boots for the last 6 weeks. I've not stayed infor more that 3 hours but been fine.

It'll come down to air temperature - if its still flippin' freezin' like its been for the last few days, then a 3:2 will be a touch chilly. If the sun's out and its a nice early summers day, then a 3:2 will be fine.
At the moment Im switching between the two depending on weather, but the 5mm should just about be finished with for the year

i`ve got a 2-1 top which i might try on underneath just in case - i`ll look like the michelin man!

was a bit annoyed on saturday, as the hire place guy at saunton gave my gfriend a 3-2 which was a bit big and joked it off saying it was summer now

You might be OK on the south coast - wouldn't try my summer suit up in wales just yet..........

Um, sea temp is the same on the south coast and wales... sea temps

South coast is never as warm as people think - it hasnt got any Gulf Stream, and its being fed by the chilly North Sea from the east as well as the Atlantic from the West.

A lot warmer than Scarborough though

Still sticking to my stupidly thick suit for a bit yet ....... I'd rather have to get out coz I'm too tired, rather than just too cold........... (AKA I'm a bit of a wuss)

waters never warm enough in scarborough!! i spent all of last year in a winter suit coz it was always too cold for my shorty!! the first time i surf in a 3/2 this year will be at the meet. should be ok in the sw though.

Most of the boys down here havn't even used their winter suits this winter at all...

and yes DEFFO warm enought for 3/s on the west coast now.

My first East Coast surf hoodless, a fair few still had them on though. In hindsight could have probs lost the gloves too as i got a bit of a sunburn as the weather was a bit better than expected. No side effects from the op either which was cool.

Had to surf the fish though as had to get in at South Bay, damn winds, and a three and a half year old girl who had the final say on todays surf location, there was a doll she's been waiting to buy since Easter.

on saturday i went in wearing a short sleeved( the legs are full length) 3 2 wetsuit and was fine, but it was sunny, i recon you should be fine in a full 3:2 suit

Am still in my 5/3mm sat the mo... hopefully the water temp will hit 14C sometime this month, then I'll wear my nice paddle friendly 3/2

Ok, I was wandering around Croyde bay rocks last sunday, and it was FREEZING. I'm wearing about two jumpers, it's cold, it's drizzling with rain, and when I got to the waters edge there was some nutcase girl swimming in a bikini. I'm not joking, and she was in there for AGES!

Oh, and I'm still wearing a 5:3, but I nearly boiled to death getting from the car to the water on saturday.

on saturday, there was a guy in board shorts and rash vest surfing - it made me cold just to look at him!

was in devon at saunton - i`ve never surfed down in dorset aprt from kite surfing in portland - always go up to north devon for surf.

i think you can get a bit of a wave in bournemouth or lyme regis but have no experience there i`m afraid.

Im trying to get to grips with swell charts and Lyme Regis is looking okay for Friday but I think i'll pay the extra on petrol and head for Devon Thurs...

im from dorset and surf it all the time, but i would still rather go down to devon anyday, the breaks here are just insanly crowded even if its only 2ft dribblers, where as i went down to fistral with some mates and we had 3-4ft sets to ourselves, it wasn't super clean but it was a better wave than we get down here
