ive been out on this shortboard a few times now, and even tho i can catch waves, sit on it ok and all that (havent mastered foot placement yet - that bit still sucks ass)...

Awww.... While the idea is to have fun, think how much fun you'll be able to have once you master the shortie!

Having the same problem, dropped down from a 7`6 bic to a 6`8 fbf. Its like starting all over again.

18 mths, used a mates board brfore that or hired. Feels strange at first, even had trouble paddling and trying to sit on the thing. It is starting to feel comfy now.

i dropped from a 76 to 6'8 too about 4 months ago (although the 6'8 has got some really weird dimentions its a hella lot skinnier than a normal 6'8 but it was custom made - bought it scond hand though)

Best thing to do is take it out a lot in all conditions and the rest will come. But i still switch it up around a bit i like taking the right boad out for the conditions.

yes, funboards are a lot easier but less maneuverable, or maybe it's just me..anyway, i switched from a 7'6" to a 6'2" and now, down to a 5'11", which i love so much..i think it depends on the person which board they are comfortable with, as long as you catch waves and have fun

Dont think of it as 'the big board is more fun', think of it as building a quiver

Small mushy days, the funboard comes out. Clean, powerful perfection and its time for the shortboard 8)

Surfing on a shortboard on anything less than 'pretty good' waves is a miserable experience!
