Surfer Slang

Postby Grant Blaz » Mon Mar 05, 2007 5:06 am

Hey guys, looking to get some slang words used in the surfing community, need if for a project for school, also want to know if the ladies use different words then the guys or if there is any difference in the way they talk. Thanks a lot, anything would help, know this is kind of a weird thread.

lmao..

i believe .. Cor' blimey guvnor , thats a right ol' steep jaunt up the apples and pears ..is the kinda crazy surf talk the kidz these days be using !

.. the most common surf slang i hear is " oi you fleshin noob , get the flesh out of my way" ..im not sure what it means but im assured its experienced surfer talk for .. " young man , i appreciate you are a learner but would thoust be so kind as to relocate ones self to a wobblers wave up front with the kiddies " ..

All seriousness, have a look for old skool surfer talk , cause as far as im concerned unless your in Cali and have been trapped in a time warp with Bill and Ted " .. then all the usual social jive talk applies :D

That handy link Sar just gave us... wrote:Zulu

Well, there you go, you learn something every day. I'd often wondered what the 'Z' meant on some of the charts :D

Crikey Mate! Look at these little beauties!

This surf slang's a bloody ripper eh?!

"shove another snag on the barbie"

"tie me kangaroo down, sport"

"get me another VB" (local budget beer)

"Blimey, that's unreal!"

"Get nicked you kook, you've flogged another one of me waves"

umm...

that's about it... pretty typical surf slang... I reckon...

Fosters = horsepiss = fairly good chance of making the dawnie.

Kronenbourg = alcoholic deathbrew = day spent hiding in the van watching everyone else surf.

Been there, done that, no need to do it again :spew: :bang:

ARSE!

Beat me to it! That's one of my favorite jokes and gets told everytime I'm buying a round and someone asks for fosters.

Fosters, Carling, Carlsberg etc... all beer flavoured water. Be a man. Drink Stella!
