Surfing Waves

Hello Everyone, I'm new to these forums and pretty new to surfing. I have a report to do for my photography class about Surfing Photography and would like to know some famous Surfing Photographers.

Along w/ famous photographers, any input on how pics are taken (aerial, far away, in the water), camera's used, how photography relates to surfing (getting into the moment, finding that right one), etc. I'm pretty sure I'll find most of my answers after researching photographers, but any input will be appreciated.

I tried searching and found some, but direct input would be also helpful. Thank you.

Once upon a time im sure the pro' photographers in here or elsewhere would have told you there are timings, light parameters, set-ups etc etc that have to be adhered to ..but now with the software available and multi shot digi cams .. most peeps can snap off some class photos if they take around 200 per 10minute!!

Theres still no shortcut for experience in where to be and knowing what shot may work or not .. BDW posts in here and the man is about as good at capturing high quality surf shots as any ive seen ( not including 'in the water shots') ... so keep this post alive and im sure someone will chuck ya some pointers !

CheeZee forgot to tell you the most important bit of advice - keep your camera battery housing closed when you're in the water

As my understanding goes, most lighting is from availble light, although some people will use a handle mount flash for shots in tubes/fill light, etc. For in the water shots, people will use wide angle lenses a lot.
