Kent Surfers - I call you!

I did a quick search but wasn't sure about the wildcard thing (Yes. I'm a computer illiterate swine.) so mods, if this is a repost then feel free to delete it but point me in the right direction please :) Ta.

Right. I'm going to start surfing. I need to know where to get my scrawny ass so I can learn. If anyone can help me out, there's a bag of fizzy sweets in it for you. Proper ones too, not that haribo cack.

As well as that, It might be nice to meet some of you guys. It might not, but we shall see

Kent is a bit limited in its surf spots, but there are a few. Joss bay is probably the most well known.

Take a look at www.thebigchill.co.uk

If you're going to learn, you'd be better off getting yourself down to devon/cornwall where the surf is much more consistent. Kent is more or less surf-free from march - september

Closer to home is Brighton, bournemouth etc which is more consistent than kent, but still a very fickle wave.

I'm running a fledgling business at the moment so I can't really get anywhere for any length of time. I will check out the big chill website though, thanks.

It is possible to learnt somewhere like Joss bay though, right? It's only half hour away. :D

Where in Essex are you? Or is your username just an affront to the stilletto clad county?

Fancy teaching a newb to sink?

Ok then. Deal. :)

Is Joss bay quite busy then? I need to have a few goes before I commit to meeting you in Brighton.

That sounded a bit 'gay in the village' and I apologise

if you're only half an hour from Joss bay, you'll strike lucky every now and then - but generally its very fickle, hard to predict, and very rarely works. You could never arrange to get lessons there in advance as there'd be a 99% chance of no swell on the day

I can't guarantee I'll be available. We have a driver pulling sickies all over the place at the moment so I might need to drive a cab. If you could send me a pm I'd certainly be interested in meeting you down there if I can. I won't have a board or wetsuit by then. Is it ok if I come watch for a while?

Cheers.

Are you local then?

Not in a 'league of gentlemen' type way. Where do you normally surf?

I think I know where you boys would be. Is it off Madeira drive? I'm sure I've seen Jamie Oliver getting his clobber out of the camper down there. (Surfing gear, not his twig and giggleberries... although he IS probably the NAKED chef for a reason. I digress...).

Is that where you mean?

Can you add me to msn from this forum? Might be an easier way to do it.
