Yet again its a tricky call this week. Lots of lows tracking over the UK, and its difficult to predict the path and the timing.
So those sites (both of which are computer-model generated) give different results

I wish MSW would give a confidence rating (like metcheck does).

But anyway, there'll be some cracking sessions in Devon this week, and other moments when its going to be completely blown out. Its all going to be in the timing. Not such a problem if you live five minutes away, but a bugger if you want to plan a trip from miles away! :?

But, having just looked at the charts, my guess would be...

Starting off big and messy on friday, cleaning up during the day, should be nice by the end of the day.

Saturday should be pretty nice, but not as big as MSW is saying. And might be tricky to paddle into the wave with a fair offshore blowing.

Getting smaller by sunday, but nice and clean.

But confidence is, at the moment, LOW

tell me about it! 2 hour drive to get there. i`ll keep an eye on the forecasts tomorrow then make a decision- i reckon we`ll be going though - normally get there for about 9.30ish

which charts on metcheck do you look at?

Pah, two hours? A mere amble!

metcheck is good for the general situation and is particularly good for winds etc. It gives a surf forecast, but its the weather charts that are more useful, as well as the description on the home page telling you the overview of whats going on.

If I were in your shoes, I'd make the trip. There'll be a wave, reasonable size and period, its only the wind thats questionable - so you might need to check out Puts instead.

But this weekend, I cant make it to the coast (unless I take a day off friday...) so this almost guarantees top surf for you

i`m paranoid!

back in september when i`d just started surfing, i never even thought about checking forecasts - got there and the sea was like glass - doh!

managed to get the day off work, so it`s likely, i`ll be there :D

personaly looking at the presure charts id say its more likey to be southly maybe south easterly but should still be cross/cross offshore so worth making the trip, i think some forcasts are saying the winds will pull towards the low in the northan atlantic while others are saying it will pull more towards the one just off spain, will see which is right

Yeah, Witts looking very possible.
Im planning on checking the cams and seeing whether its worth the trip - but seeing as its high-tide around 10am, I wont need to be there til midday ish.

Come over and say hello if you see a purple VW van at Witts, probably the Bracklesham car park

Cool, will do. I've seen you there a few times before. I'll be in my girlfriend's red corsa.
I was planning on about midday as I dont think the tide is quite big enough for the West to work so will have to go on the drop.
Have to be the longboard, maybe!

I'll be at Saunton / Croyde late saturday afternoon till sunday.

As well as surfing, I'm going to try sponging for the first time! (I have a teenage mutant ninja turtle bodyboard! :D )

well, we went down yesterday morning :D

wasn`t too bad - the good waves were breaking quite far out and was a bit tricky getting out to them - had a go of my mates shortboard for the first time - that was interesting - every time i tried to stand up, it was like it was trying to escape from underneath me!

we were the only people in there at 10.30 - quite eery walking down to the water and not a soul in sight!

hopefully get back up there again in 2 - 3 weeks.
