Another bitter sweet afternoon

Friday arvo: 3-4ft waves, empty beach and warm water.

Had an awesome surf, and even got my gf out there on my mini mal having a go. All was going great, until one fateful wave:

My gf caught a nice little wave all the way in to the sand...

unfortunately she didn't quite get off before the water sucked out at the shore and the board hit bottom rather heavily...

Now the worst part: Didn't realise there was any fin damage till we got out of the water 45min later and I was washing my board... now my left fin (the one I repaired before) is squashed 1/4" inside the fiberglass skin on my board and flops around like a flacid.............. umm yeh.

Anyway, sand and salt have gotten in all around the fin box where it's torn the foam and now I've got a big repair on my hands... bugger! :( :nopity:

I offered my board to some mates that run surf lessons as they were out of longboards...That was a bad choice..

Came back with a snapped single fin and the two thruster fins were bent backwards...

Oh and to add to the pain is was an epoxy board. Took my 2 months to get it repaired.

yeh... it's such a pain... but in the end I'm not annoyed.

That's why I got a cheap board to learn on (and lend to my girl so she can learn). I knew it'd get damaged and that's alright.

I just have trouble finding the motivation to fibreglass it all back together when I personally hardly ever surf with that board.
